About this listen

Ryder Kyle is a spoiled, self-righteous jerk.

He doesn’t understand suffering. Entitled guy like him wouldn’t recognize desperation if it smacked him in his perfect face. I don’t need him, but I do need a ride west. I won’t let the guy who reminds me of the mess I left behind interfere with my plan to get to Los Angeles.

This woman is nuts!

People don’t sneak on a tour bus looking for shelter. That’s what crazy fangirls do, but she's far from a fan. She says she’s homeless and asks for help by throwing insults. Her words are like a viper strike and she’s made me her target. We’re dumping her at the next stop.

Skipped a Beat is an enemies-to-lovers rock star romance that proves one seemingly insignificant choice can change the path of an entire life.

Enjoyed this series

Two of my favorite narrators. Love that this story was unique and different. Loved to see their journey of friendship. Like going into a story blind and being surprised with the roller coaster ride of emotions.

I COULDN’T LOVE IT MORE

This was a very enjoyable and entertaining friends-to-lovers rockstar romance that starts off with fiery showdowns and antagonistic run-ins between Ryder, the drool-worthy Drummer for Jesse’s Band - and homeless desperate Jade who seeks refuge by sneaking onto an unlocked Bus.. without realizing it’s actually a Tour Bus!. Everyone is easy about their new smart-mouthed stowaway.. well, everyone except Ryder whose accusations, suspicions and temper runs high towards this wounded bad-tempered woman who is just too beautiful, too tempting and definitely off-limits. Because loyal Ryder is in a long-distance relationship.. however, it’s a rocky relationship with a user girlfriend.. and the more time he spends with Jade the rockier his relationship gets. And, as Jade and Ryder’s lust-driven clashes heat up, sparks fuel a sexual hunger that leaves Ryder with only one choice. There’s secrets on both sides in this slow-burn.. but it’s Jade’s secrets that could destroy everything. Ryder was a swoony sweetheart, he wasn’t a cheater, he had an alpha side but wasn’t a bad-boy and he definitely wasn’t going to let Jade go once he’d claimed her.. but Jade’s backstory wouldn’t be the only roadblock standing in the way of their HEA.

Worth a credit? Yes, there’s a stormy start with seismic chemistry as instant attraction flares into lust. There’s snarky banter and good relationship growth as Ryder and Jade really get to know each other, have passion-filled days and grow close. There’s emotional struggles when Jade’s past (and her future) is revealed.. and a confrontation turns heartache into a heartwarming HEA. A couple of ‘heavier’ issues were weaved into the plot.. as well as jealousy, possessiveness, angst, drama, colorful flawed secondary characters and you can really feel the friendship between all the bandmates with playful bickering, bitchin and great banter. Excellent dual PoV narration by Teddy and Callie brought the excitement, anticipation and delicious feels to life.

So sweet

Ok, I have to admit that I really started listening to this book because of Teddy Hamilton. Ironically, I have bought all of JB Salsbury's Fighting books but just haven't read them yet- they are on my TBR. But I wanted to listen to this audiobook because of TH. And it was great. There was an initial enemies to lover aspect (though the enemies aspect is really short). This is a totally unbelievable but romantic story following Jade, a beautiful woman who has a difficult history and is currently homeless. In a desperate move, she hides on Ryder's bus (Ryder is a drummer on the band and linked to the Fighting books. ) Their banter is fun and I really enjoyed seeing the interaction between them and the band itself. I loved Ryder. He is a total sweetheart and really, a perfect hero for a story that is as close to a Cinderella story as one about a rock band can be.

Teddy Hamilton- can he ever be bad? Nope. He was amazing- male, female voices on point. Callie Dalton was also really good so overall, they did a fantastic job bringing this book to life. On to the next book!

Fun and Heartfelt

Skipped a Beat, the second book in the Love, Hate, Rock-n-Roll series, was an amusing enemies to lovers rock star romance. Jade and Ryder’s story was fun and heart-felt. Their meet cute was original and interesting. The plot was filled with secrets and twists that have my emotions flying everywhere – I swooned, I raged and I was heart-broken.

I had so much fun watching Jade and Ryder bicker at the beginning and then fall in love later. The story had great flow and I enjoyed the slow-building romance and character growth. Besides getting to know the other band mates from Jesse Lee’s band better, I was happy to see some familiar faces from the Universal Fighting League family. There was a sneak peek of what to come next in the series and I cannot wait to learn their story.

Teddy Hamilton is one of my favourites and he didn’t disappoint. Excellent performance!

Heroe and heroine are so stupid and suck

The only thing the heroe & heroine have is sexual chemistry. Jade is rude af, super judgemental, says the ugliest racist comments and has no personality. Don't know what Jade & Ryder see in each other. All they have is physical attraction and after having sex "they're in love" Seriously all they ever do is argue and yet Ryder break up with his girlfriend Rachel because he's tired of arguing. This story sucked big time.

loved the narration but...

The narrators are some of my favorites. I just couldn't click with the lead female. She was rude, bitter, angry and judgemental, her first response for every reaction is to throw race into it. You white boys this you entitled white boy that ( for context I am an black woman). In every scenario she portrays herself as a victim even when she is in the wrong.

Needless to say I didn't finish I tried.
