Publisher's summary

Laurell K. Hamilton has captivated audiences with her gritty, seductive tales of vampire hunter Anita Blake for thirty bloody fantastic years. Now, in the thirtieth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, wedding bells are ringing. But before Anita can make it to the altar, she must face an obstacle more daunting than any supernatural threat....

Necromancer Anita Blake is small, dark, and dangerous. Her turf is the city of St. Louis. Her job: U.S. Marshal—Preternatural Branch. She’s faced horrifying monsters and brutal killers and come out the other side still standing.

Considering how things in her life tend to go, Anita never expected her walk down the aisle with Jean-Claude to go smoothly. They’ve already been confronted with naysayers and a power-hungry ancient evil, but now Anita has to do the one thing that actually scares her: introduce her very religious, very human relatives to her fiancé—the newly crowned vampire king of America.

As Anita tries to keep the peace between the family she left behind and the family she’s chosen, dark forces jump at the chance to take advantage of the chaos. With her happy-ever-after at risk and everyone’s immortal souls hanging in the balance, Anita grapples with a hard truth: Blood makes you related, but loyalty makes you family.

30 books in 30 years!!!

To think I’ve be as invested in the 30th book of a series as I was in the first book I picked up in the series. From the first one I read having borrowed it from the library I was hooked and never missed a release since. I definitely don’t want this series to end

Amazing story and narration

Laurell continues to tease us in many wonderful ways. Ty Laurell and Audible to allow her books to be narrated by exceptional gifted readers that allow those of us who cannot see well enough to read or who listen on their way to work or play to still be able to enjoy the series. Buy this to read or listen you will not be disappointed.

Finally! Anita like she was in the beginning!

Finally we get Anita with her birth family. Finally we get a big bad that Anita can’t take out on her own.

Great book.

Love it, as usual

Anita Blake books never fail me. I loved the story, love the characters, and was not expecting some of the events that happened or characters that cropped up.

My only complaint, and it is a tiny one, is that there was a lot of fling back over things that happened in other books. I felt that it took me out of the story at times, but not enough for me to lower my rating.
As usual, the narrator was spot on. She makes the story even better!

Loved every minute of the book!

This book had me staying up until 2 AM when my alarm was going to go off at 7 AM. No regrets! I just couldn't stop. Loved the family drama as much as the issue with bad guy, Diemos. Loved Edward and even Olaf (begrudgingly so!)

I started the series, maybe 14 months ago, so I've not been able to enjoy it as long as some. I'm looking forward to 31. Already started a re-read from the beginning a few days before this release.
