Publisher's summary

When killers hide in the shadows, it's time to set the world on fire.

After declaring war on the criminal underworld, elite assassin Reed Montgomery uncovered a crippling secret: the organization he's fighting was founded by his father, and Reed must confront him if he has any hope of defeating it.

Reaching David Montgomery is easier said than done, however. While in prison for manslaughter, insanity has taken hold, and now David doesn't remember his own son.

Armed with a list of his father's known associates, Reed will drive out the truth by any means necessary. But some men will give anything to protect their secrets, and they are every bit as ruthless as Reed.

This war isn't over. It's only just begun.

Banks is intolerable. I can’t take it anymore

She’s a bratty teenager w constant tantrums. I get she’s mad but all she does is seethe and snap. She has a cutting response to everything Reed says and does. And it bothers him so much it’s tedious to listen to. We are obviously supposed to like Reed- author does a good job of accomplishing that . And then half the book is listening to a surly holier than thou brat emotionally abuse him, for lack of a better phrase. His continued idolizing of her makes him like an abused dog — always going back for more.
If she isn’t going to grow or evolve or listen or move forward in the story with him then GET RID OF HER! She’s an anchor, weighing the whole storyline down, preventing you from being carried along with it. And having to listen to the constant one sided bickering is, as I said, intolerable. I actually already purchased the next several of the series bc they were all on sale for cheap and I thought it would get better after the last book. Nope. I probably am not even going to listen to those. Forget not being worth the money, it’s not worth the time.
