I received a free review copy of this audio book, at my request, and am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

This short story had me hooked. At an hour and a half, it was the right length of action without the filler to drag it down.

The main character was interesting and likeable. He was relatable, in his motivations and interactions. He had just enough backstory to feel real. Not well rounded enough for a full novel, but enough for a story of this complexity.

The setting was familiar but different. Crash landing on another world, in the middle of a war zone was definitely an interesting choice, and it pays off. It keeps the plot moving and doesn't lend itself to long drawn out explanations of barren rock and things go boom.

The narrator, Anthony LeRoy Lovato, was a good choice. He has a sufficient range of voices and an easy tone that make this a breeze to listen to.

All in all, this is a good time, just not a long time. Voice narration and plot are easy to take in. The pace feels right for the back story provided, and shows a nice LITTLE slice of another time and place.

Fast paced with no filler

Nothing surprises you more when you find a gem. I can see why the author decided to take a story story he published in an anthology and make it a single release for readers do if your going get this book I recommend just getting the anthology more content for your buck.

I really enjoyed this short story, which was my first experience with this author's work. The audiobook was very short and easy to listen to in one sitting. I was gripped by the story from the opening lines until the end. I was entertained by the protagonist who skirted the law, but his motivation pointed to layers within the character. I'm looking forward to the next story in the series. I thought Anthony LeRoy Lovato's narration was enjoyable, and his performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook through StoryOrigin. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which included my honest opinions regarding this story.

Received as a review copy from Booksirens; audiobook received through Story Origin, this is an honest review.

Narrated beautifully by Anthony LeRoy Lovato, Smuggler's Valor is an intense, breathless, visual masterpiece of a quick story. It was suppose to be a quick job for Reese Daniels before getting back to be with his sister... then everything goes to shit the moment he crashes upon an icy moon of Uranus, Ariel fighting to survive while also finding himself in the middle of a war against dangerous that have no qualms in killing them Marines hunting. Now Reese along with a squad of Marines make the best of the situation to get the hell off the moon, before they can't; Reese may have never wanted to be a hero but he sure has then determination to become one.

Highly recommended.
