About this listen

International lawyer Sophie Bellamy has dedicated her life to helping people in war-torn countries. But when she survives a hostage situation, she remembers what matters most: the children she loves back home. Haunted by regrets, she returns to the idyllic Catskills village of Avalon on the shores of Willow Lake, determined to repair the bonds with her family.

There, Sophie discovers the surprising rewards of small-town life - including an unexpected passion for Noah Shepherd, the local veterinarian. Noah has a healing touch for anything with four legs, but he's never had any luck with women - until Sophie.

Snowfall at Willow Lake speaks from the heart about all the loves that fill a woman's life, and all the ways that love is tested and made to grow. It's the story of what comes after a woman survives an unspeakable horror and finds her way home, to healing and redemption and a new chance at happiness.

Critic reviews

"In her latest Lakeside Chronicles title, Wiggs jovially juggles the lives of numerous colliding characters and adds some winter-favorite recipes for a festive touch." ( Publishers Weekly)

I did not like this story as much as those previous books in the series. Not a lot of chemistry between the two main characters. Here's hoping that the next in the series is better.

Less than expected.

I usually enjoy Susan Wiggs, I have read and listened to many of her works. I had set a goal to finish this series, and for 75% of this novel, I thought about giving up. The story line itself is "okay," not the best book ever, but it's alright- but hearing the same thing over and over when it has clearly been established is obnoxious.
I did finish it, and I do plan to read the next book, but I have to admit, if it keeps repeating like this one does, I'll let the goal go.

Redundant

The story was part of a four book series. Of the four, it was not my favorite. The story lacked plot development. In the beginning, the author set the stage for a lot of possibilities for some mystery or action, but it settled into a somewhat unbelievable plot. There was little connectivity, so I kept waiting for possible events that never happened and left unsatisfied. The ending was tied nearly with a bow. Good for a light summer read, but lacked Wigg’s potential for a rich story. The narrator was great.
