About this listen

In the year 2055, scientists discover something far worse than rising temperatures and rising seas - they discover massive sunspots that are producing unprecedented solar flares.

With little time to prepare for the storms, NASA recruits doctors Sophie Winston and Emanuel Rodriguez to help monitor the solar weather. At first, the duo believes they have been hired for a routine project. But when arriving at the Johnson Space Center they quickly realize they haven't been told everything about their mission. And as a massive storm races toward Earth, they begin to suspect that it isn't a natural event. Millions of miles away something is feeding the storms....

I enjoy short stories

This seems like a possible series for me to listen to. There was an F word and an intimate scene however.

Great Prelude to the Orb Series

I liked how it filled in the blank at the beginning. Started the character development out and made for a much better series.

OK as a beginning

By the time I listedned tothis I had already listened to the entire ORB series. Therefore it didn't do much for me. It would have been interesting if I had listened to it first but it is not necessary to before you do the series.
I got it free on a special and for that price it was very good but I would never have paid it only being only 53 minuses long.
Bronson Pinchot is a better narrator than actor. I always like his narrations. He's very good doiing voices.

Good intro.

Good listen but no background on the characters... like jumping into the middle of a book you've never read before.

A tasty short prequel

4.5 of 5 stars.

I haven't read any of Nicholas Sansbury Smith's stories so I'm not familiar with the Orbs series. Well-written and engaging, I didn't know what to expect and thought the story's reveal (anomaly) was introduced nicely into the plot. I'll have to delve further into the Orbs series.

Bronson Pinchot gave an excellent performance.

Prequel is interesting, but...

I enjoyed the story and even want to read the series, but the narrator was not to my liking. I fell asleep the first time I listened. I had to force myself to pay clear attention and focus the second time. I will read this series and not listen to it.

Was good but..

The narrator is really good, but he's one of the ones I can't separate myself from the other series I own. I kept having to tell myself it's not Kate and Becker. So I'll probably not buy because of that. That doesn't mean he's a bad narrator, his range is fine and it's easy to differentiate from other characters.
