About this listen

Captain Ben Monroe has an ass made for touching, and a panty-dropping smile.

He's also my best friend's younger brother. And the worst mistake of my life.

Or maybe the best. It's hard to tell.

He was a blight on my childhood. A thorn in my side.

I haven’t seen him in years, And now he needs a place to stay.

What I didn’t expect was to find him naked in my kitchen, and he’s all grown up. But sisters before misters; I wasn’t supposed to look, let alone touch.

Soldier Boy is hot and hilarious best-friend’s-younger-brother romance, full of snark, banter, dirty talk, and smexy-times galore!

Soldier Boy is a fun story.

Penny is an overworked doctor who is basically just trying to stay afloat when her best friend’s brother moves in for a couple weeks while he’s on leave. Having experienced the tortures of playground “flirting”, Penny was not excited about the prospect, but Ben pushed through the barriers. Ben has demons which get in the way of their HEA for a bit, but their connection cannot be denied. Overall, the story flowed well and was enjoyable!

Maxine Mitchell is an amazing narrator and she didn’t disappoint in this one. Elliot Matthews is a new one for me, but he did a great job!

Sweet story with just enough spice

Donna Alam is a top author for me. This is a sweet best friends younger brother story with little bit of an enemy to lovers mixed in. Funny with some nice spicy scenes and even a little twist at the end.
Maxine Mitchell is one of my top narrators for me. One of her lighter stories, but she still brings that great emotion and passion. Elliot Matthews is a new to me narrator. I really enjoyed his voice and acting.
I would absolutely recommend this book.

Fun and steamy!

“Soldier Boy” is a fun and steamy best friend’s brother romance that pulled me in from the beginning with the witty banter, kept me going with the delicious steamy scenes and experiencing Penny and Ben’s relationship.

Penny is an overworked doctor who is working hard to keep her house after breaking up with her boyfriend. When her best friend Melody, guilts/asks iif her younger brother Ben can come stay with her while he’s on leave from the military, she’s hesitant at first. But wanting to help, she agrees. However, Penny wasn’t expecting the 6-foot blonde, blue-eyed man at her front door. Ben has grown up and his crush for Penny is still there.

I loved the banter and chemistry between these two. It was fun, flirty and kept me laughing. And the angst and attraction between the two was absolutely delicious. That scene in the kitchen is going to live rent free in my head for a long time. I loved the real life struggles of this story. Penny working to keep her house and Ben decompressing from his current tour in the military. I loved Ben’s sister, she was a riot. The ending and epilogue were super sweet.

Maxine Mitchell was great as Penny. She did a great job bringing Penny to life and her British accent for the other characters was so good. Elliot Matthews is a new narrator and I need MORE from him. His British accent is absolutely delicious and I could listen to it all day.

That pesky younger brother of the bff…

Penelope’s life has not been going as planned…dumped by her fiancé and left saddled with an old Victorian that’s draining her bank account. Help comes in the form of her best friend’s younger brother…the kid who used to terrorize her as a teenager. Ben is no longer that annoying teenager…now a captain in the army and smoking hot. Surely Penelope can ignore the attraction for the few weeks that he’ll be her roommate. Cute story.

Funny and Sweet

Donna Alam really managed to make this one absolutely adorable. Penny is an Obstetrician in the UK doing a favor for her best friend Mel. In comes the surprise roommate of Mel's younger brother, Captain Ben Monroe. The age-old story of the best friend's younger brother who was incredibly annoying as a child, picked on Penny because he liked her. The flashbacks to their childhood throughout the story were a nice touch. The fact that Ben already has a nickname for Penny, Nell, is also very fitting. I love how Nell and Ben fumble a bit and don't fit each other perfectly at first, but find a way to make their relationship work in the end.

I listened to the audiobook, and absolutely Maxine Mitchell gave a top-notch performance. Chapter 8 was hilarious and her delivery on those lines was perfection. Elliot Matthews was a new-to-me narrator, and he did not disappoint. His female voice could use some work, but I would 100% listen to him again. Their narration really helped bring Nell and Ben's love story to life, including all the twists and turns.

4.5 Stars, and all the spiciness!!

Donna Alam has done it again!! She has quickly become a favorite of mine. Her latest audio release Soldier Boy was epic. Soldier Boy is a Best friends younger brother romance. Meet Penny and Ben, they have always been drawn together, even as kids. So, when Ben returns from the military and stays with Penny while on leave, and booooyyyy do things start to heat up!! Donna knows how to write a spicy love story. This a must listen!
Narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Elliott Matthews. Maxine Mitchell's British accent is *chef kiss*, an absolute delight. Elliott Matthews is a new to me narrator, he was amazing in this role! He brought a yummy Brit accent and ALL the emotions. He definitely will be a narrator I listen again.
No Cliffhangers. Standalone.

Enemies to Lovers with Extra Heat

I loved the storyline of best friend’s younger brother needs a place to stay. He used to be the most annoying younger brother and now he’s all grown up.

Narrator Maxine Mitchell is one of my favorites. It was my first listen of Elliot Matthews. His make voice is delicious. His female voices need a bit of work, but they made me laugh.

Nel and Captain Monroe have the best chemistry and banter. Loved it
