Publisher's summary

When Ashley Miller sees a Craigslist ad for an all-expense paid vacation to Scotland with a handsome Highland "escort", she's all over it. Worn out from working two jobs to pay off the debts her scam artist ex-husband left her with, she just needs a friggin' break already.

But one minute she's sipping a latte and the next she's zapped to the 2nd century and promptly informed she's managed to wed her handsome Highlander without even an "I do." Oh, hell no. After a devastating tragedy, Connall's tribe is left with few marriageable women. When his Druid priest suggests a place filled with bonnie lasses, he of course agrees to go fetch one for himself. But nothing prepared Connall for his sassy new wife, nor his tribe for a woman determined to see equal rights for all women.

Now the men are threatening revolt if he can't rein his young wife in, but it might be too late. The women are demanding the men get "woke" - which of course makes no sense because they already woke that morn - and give women "the vote", whatever the bloody hell that is. Despite all that, Connall can't stop wanting to convince his wife to get naked, and he's starting to wonder if he's been bewitched.

Only the more he gets to know her, the more he starts to think she's just what they needed. If only he survives her next demand....

Loved, but…

I enjoyed the story. It started out wired, and end in a beautiful romance. It felt as the story dragged on due to narration it was monotone so it felt like the characters felt longer than they were. I don’t like to say something so bad especially when it cause this narrator work. I just have to say that she needs to put feelings into it.

Wrong narrator! Glad it was free.

There's nothing wrong with Beresford's lovely English accent... except that the main character is from *San Francisco* (via Nebraska) and part of the story takes place there. It took me forever to piece together that she wasn't supposed to be a British transplant to SF and that the narrator just doesn't bother to do American accents. (Or maybe she does and they're just awful? Because sometimes people almost sounded Australian?) Even her Scots brogue is pretty bad. I'm so confused as to why they chose her for this narration.

I'm enjoying the story enough that I'm still listening (albeit at 1.2x), but we'll see how long that lasts.

Time travel at its best and in both directions.

My only sadness is waiting for the sequels! Great narrator enhances the quality writing and innovative plot.

Enjoyed the Story, but Narrator…

This narrator can not do Male voices and does not even try an American accent for the main character. Unfortunately it is has caused several people to give up on the story early on. But I am glad I stuck it out.

Fantastic! Truly Historical, Truly a Romance

This was such a unique perspective on time travel and touches on a time period rarely written about in romance novels. This hit everything, humor, syfy, history, and hot swoon-worthy love!

The narration is a bit odd as the make voices sound very much like Naboo Senator Padmé Amidala, but other than that she does a fine job.

Cute, light read

Cute story of a time travel romance, with a hea ♥️

The story has the MH traveling to modern day looking for a wife and getting help from a homeless man, using Craig’s List 😂. In comes the Fh looking for a way out of the trouble her ex-husband got her in and you have the basis for some funny times.

This story was sweet, but does have some very light bedroom scenes, all in all it was enjoyable 💘

Must read in 1.2 speed

Great story, but narration needs to be sped up a little. Almost fixes the issue with the tone and sleepiness of it.

Just ok

Nothing exciting about the story; the narrator is not that great at all. I had to skip some of the chapters just to find out the ending.

great! don't let the cover fool you

the book is basically nothing like that cover portrays. and that is NOT bad. this story is very interesting and unexpected. the narration is super slow I increased the speed to 1.25 and it also does not give ANYTHING to the male characters (made me kind of not like them as a matter of fact. even when I wanted to like them) but that is only a part of it. I really enjoyed this love story. historical HA! it is a ROMcom don't be fooled. it's less on the com but definitely rom.

This was fine.

The biggest issue for me was that Ashley is still considering going back to her time bc a man from the year 156 won’t give her equal say in running the tribe and doesn’t want her to berate him in public. That’s not that much different than the modern world and with the hell that her life was in the modern world, I would think that a little less leadership of a village would be infinitely preferable.

Also, weren’t tribal societies more egalitarian until Christianity spread to subjugate women?
