About this listen

THE BOYFRIEND CANDIDATE is a total freaking delight. It’s smart, sexy, funny and so sharply written.”
—CARLEY FORTUNE, #1
New York Times bestselling author of Meet Me at the Lake

A laugh-out-loud rom-com about learning to embrace living outside your comfort zone.

As a shy school librarian, Alexis Stone is comfortable keeping out of the spotlight. But when she’s dumped for being too meek—in bed!—she decides she needs to change. And what better way to kick-start her new more adventurous life than with her first one-night stand?

Enter Logan, the gorgeous, foul-mouthed stranger she meets at a hotel bar. Audacious and filterless, Logan is Alexis’s opposite—and boy, do opposites attract! Just as she’s about to fulfill her hookup wish, the hotel catches fire in a freak lightning storm. In their rush to escape, Logan is discovered carrying her into the street, where people are waiting with cameras. Cameras Logan promptly—and shockingly—flees.

Alexis is bewildered until suddenly pictures of her and Logan escaping the fire are all over the internet. Turns out Logan is none other than Logan Arthur, the hotshot candidate challenging the Texas governor’s seat. The salacious scandal is poised to sink his career—and jeopardize Alexis’s job—until a solution is proposed: he and Alexis could pretend to be in a relationship until election day…in two months. What could possibly go wrong?

“Charming, swoony, and utterly unputdownable. I LOVE this book!”

The plot of this book is great but the execution…not so much.
I finally listened to a book where the couple has to fake date and the reason is actually understandable and makes total sense. But this book was lacking romance! I thought it was going to be a slow burn but it was such a slow burn that nothing happened until THE VERY END! I was waiting and kept listening for SOMETHING to happen and nothing really did. Also they continued to not tell each other how they feel and kept avoiding it so that sucks. The narrator was fine but it could have been better.

This book was Eh…

I didn’t want this one to end. What a merry cast of characters, didn’t need endless smut didn’t need it.

Perfect summer fun

4 chili pepper like spicy scenes, but only 2. Great story, despite some agonizing scenes where I just wanted them to tell each other what they were really thinking/feeling. But I liked how this was not only about finding love and each other, but finding your true self.

3.5 chili peppers

Anyone complaining about the politics, it is literally in the description.

***technically, spoilers ahead.
It sucks that you don't think it is your responsibility to worry about climate change and how people handle education budgets but that speaks of you as a person.

-The book
The book is fun and flirty. The main character can get a bit whiny and extra at times, but Logan is the man. He definitely put his cards out early on. I love the build-up to, yes, it is almost at the end, but 100% worth it for the story. The supporting characters were great and I would love some spin off prequels.

Its fun and yes, it has politics.

Great story, lovable characters. Male narration could be better but didn’t ruin the book. Def recommend.

for everyone saying it’s too political, everything in the world is political, so…

The narrator - is OK - but the alternates voices - everyone sounds the same - Logan, William, the school Principal - sounds the same 😂

Fun read, er, listen
