Not too much, not too little. Just perfect!

I’m not the leave review type but I really love this series and I came back to listen again and as I was trolling down to see the auto-recommends for another gem like it I saw it only had one not so good/ detailed review so I thought “why not give it some justice?!”

First off this is book 2 so I’d recommend listening or reading book 1.

The mysteries aren’t connected in both books but the romance between the leads are.

If you’re listening for the smut… go elsewhere there’s not alot in it as the book focuses on solving the cases etc. the sexy time we do get though are bomb. And it does enough to remind you hey this is a mystery romance. Think NCIS or Law and order. The romance doesn’t overwhelm you and I like that a lot!

Both the narration and writing is good in my opinion. The writing isn’t cringe and make you feel like some 13 year old wrote it in 5mins and hit publish without reviewing. You actually think wow they sound like actual detectives! Lol hope this helps.

Honestly I love it so much I got the ebook as well as the paperback. A GEM!

Great performance of a mostly good book

I loved the first book in this series and have listened to it countless times. The narrators couldn’t be better, and I love the characters. This book is less plausible than the first. There are just too many things that go “right” that shouldn’t... and not realistic-enough consequences, threads left hanging.

**SPOILERS**

I really struggle with the simultaneous look-down-at BDSM while Tyler’s straight up violence is somehow justified. I don’t know that I think a real-life Jameson would be good news for Ian at all. Ian is a bit too “doe-eyed”, maybe. I don’t know that we can count on Ian to be a good advocate for himself, or Jameson to face that there might be something wrong with his behavior when Ian is too busy apologizing for things he feels are his fault. A fully functioning, healthy Ian (which he may not be yet) should tell Jameson it’s not okay to throw a glass against the wall, or to choke another man, even one that hurt him. Jameson has training - there’s no excuse for brutality.

If there were to be a third book, I would hope that there would be some consequence for Jameson’s last late night visit, and enough personal growth for both of them to confront his issues with violence.

Narrators can make or break a story. These to make the story even better than it is just on the page.

I listen to a lot of books. A lot!! And most of the time the books are just entertaining enough to keep my ride tolerable. But sometimes I get to listen to an amazing book that I just can’t wait to get back into my car just so I can continue it. This is one of those books. I’ve read and listened to all of April Wilson’s books and this has to be my favorite. The narrators bring this amazing story to life. They couldn’t have found better voices for Tyler and Ian.

*spoilers* the only issue I have, that has nothing to do with the narrators. Is that Ian whines a little too much in this book. Just a tad. He did in the last book, but this time was a bit much. Not enough for me to dislike him, or the story, but enough for me to notice.
Also, no consequences for the sexual harassment brad turner does doesn’t sit well with me. Threatening Ian to have sex with him or he’ll turn Tyler in is illegal. But it is not addressed. AT ALL

WOW another amazing book!!

Book two “Somebody to Hold” is just as amazing as the first book “Someone to Love”….. April Wilson know how to write romantic without be sappy. The Narrator she hired are absolutely perfect.

I love Ian and Tyler

I love Ian and Tyler but this book wasn’t as good as the first one. I feel like too much time is spent on waiting to see if Tyler is going to be arrested. It made the book a bit slow. Gets way better during the last quarter of the book. I look forward to the third book coming to audible.

A good sequal story - 4.5 stars

This is book 2 in the series of Tyler and Ian's relationship - should be read in order.

I really liked these two and their relationship. The characters relationship was much better than the plot. Yes, there are some HUGE problems with the "suspense" part of the storyline but I overlooked it. I also didn't care for the Layla plot line (not my type of heroine stories).

Great performances by J.F. Harding and Jack DuPont - They made this story what it was. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much reading it.

Lovely sequel.

When I got book 1 in audio, I knew I had to get book 2 as well. The story is so engaging and I love the MCs. Ian is a sweetheart and Tyler is a honorable guy. I also love that there are relatable faults both MCs have and even better, no stereotypes about their sexual dynamic. It's a wonderful story.

So not what I expected

Definitely not what I expected. While the story was an overall pleasant surprise, I do like my romance somewhat cut and dry. This story had some unexpected twist and I am honestly not sure how I feel about it. As always though, the narration was simply amazing from these two.

Holding On

Somebody to Hold is the second book in the Tyler Jamison series, and oh did it take me an emotional rollercoaster. This book should not be read as a standalone – start with book one – it’s so much better that way. Tyler faces an impossible decision, but it’s a decision he makes with determination and no second-thoughts. His devotion and love for Ian is awe-inspiring, and I felt how strong their bond was in every page of this book. I enjoyed the story immensely, but be prepared -this is a character driven and relationship driven book. There’s action and suspense, but it’s secondary to the relationship.

The audiobook was a dual narration between J.F. Harding and Jack DuPont who do a fantastic job. I love their voices and they complement each other perfectly. The audiobook production was well done.
