About this listen

Something Borrowed tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan. Rachel has always been the consummate good girl---until her 30th birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiancé. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should run from. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel knows she has to make a choice. In doing so, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk all to win true happiness. Something Borrowed is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you laughing, crying, and calling your best friend.©2004 Emily Giffin (P)2009 Macmillan Audio Contemporary Contemporary Romance Genre Fiction Psychological Romance Fiction Suspense Wedding

I was disappointed at the ending because I felt that it gave the characters in the situation of infidelity, an "out." It was sort of like "oh well." Darcy was a spoiled beauty and Rachel seemed like a weak yet goody two shoes who all of a sudden realizes she's in love with her BFF's fiance who is also her law school friend, whom she introduced to each other in the first place. Now, she's the maid of honor and decides to have an affair with the soon to be groom? I hope the movie is better than the book.

I loved the movie and I loved the book! it is a short audiobook but it was well narrated and easy to follow!

Short and sweet!

the story is straight forward, and without any nuance. One person is selfish and the best friend is too.

she is mean and the other one is a people please

The book itself was ok but the narrator was bad which made it a hard to listen.

I simply love contemporary and romance and this novel did just the trick. Will continue!

Enjoyed this novel

was suspenseful, but sometimes I was feeling like I wished it would just get to the point. The female was whiny and weak at times. letting the guy decide everything. waiting for his decision. Still a good read but my favorite part was the closet scene near the end. perfect add.

was ok. typical whiny shy girl

Super quick listen. Definitely can distinguish the different characters. Good story, and humorous at times.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

I read this novel years ago and it hooked me on Emily Giffin as a novelist. I bought the audio version years later and now realize just how many critical plot points are missed in the abridged version. In short, don't waste your time or money. I'd like to see this redone true to the original, but until then, you're better off reading the print book or even reading a wiki summary or just watching the movie. The unabridged novel is superior to all of these, but they aren't selling it. The abridged version is shallow and unsympathetic with undeveloped characters, including the protagonist, which is a horrible shame knowing how great this story is in its original form

I loved this in print but abridged audio is awful!

The audio version on here skips chapters as well as parts inside the paragraph!
I loved this book so much, but it wasn’t until a good portion through the book that I realized it was skipping around. I prefer audiobooks because I can do other things while I listen, but I also like to follow along sometimes… When doing this I noticed at least three chapters that were completely skipped over and I had to frequently pause my audio version to read the remainder of what was left of the text, and then figure out where to pick back up on the audio version when done.

I am so frustrated that I wasted an entire Audible credit on this especially since I only get one a month… Very disappointing!

Book itself 5+, this Audio version 0 they skip chapters!
