About this listen

A Norman loyalist, Lady Jocelyn bristles when ordered to marry Wulfstan, a Saxon sorcerer. She nurses a painful secret and would rather bathe in a cesspit than be pawed by such a man...until her lifelong dream of motherhood rears its head.

A man of magic and mystery, Wulfstan has no time for wedded bliss. He fears that consummating their marriage will bind their souls and wrench his focus from the ancient riddle his dying mother begged him to solve. He's a lone wolf, salving old wounds with endless work. But Jocelyn stirs him as no woman ever has.

Their attraction is undeniable. Their fates are intertwined. Together, they must face their demons and bring light to a troubled land.

Wow!

This story is set in the 1100’s. An awesome historical romance that has suspense, magic, and romance. The author is a great story teller with a wonderful imagination. This is the second book I’ve listen to of hers and they just become more more intriguing. The narrator does a good job with the characters.
This is a must listen to because it draws in into the story.

Historical romance with paranormal elements.

I just finished listening to Audible version of this book. The narrator did a great job with all the voices. Had to get use to her accent, but then was ok.
This book is a historical romance with paranormal elements. Neither is my genre, but I've been in to trying new reads lately. Still not my thing, but I absolutely LOVED the dialogue and feels in Wulfstan and Jocelyn's intimate moments! She had to seduce him, as he planned to remain celibate thru this incidental marriage. Those events totally made this book for me!

A good second book

Generally, I don't think the second book is as good as the first. But this one lives up to its predecessor. I got this book free through storyorigins and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Wonderful story and characters, great narration

Audio-book: Narrator – Rebecca McKernan

This is my first audio narrated by Ms. McKernan so it took me a little time to adjust to her voice/accent. I slowed down the speed a tad and it was perfect. She did a freaking amazing job of all the characters both male and female as well as secondary characters some who had different accents and she aced them all! There were a few times I could hear her swallow or take a breath but they were few and far between. Overall, I loved this audio and would look for more narrated by her!

Jocelyn does not want to marry a Saxon as she has bad blood with them, at least with the barbaric kind like her intended bridegroom, Wolfstan. However, she soon learns there is more to the man than what is on the surface. And some of it could bring danger into her life. While Wolfstan will marry the Norman beauty, he cannot allow himself to consummate the marriage. There are dark shadows in his past that prevent him for reaching for her despite her allure, and a mystery that must be solved as well.

I love books set in the period and I especially enjoyed this one. The hero and heroine were both well developed and I was cheering them on all along the way. Wolfstan’s secrets intrigued me even as they pulled Jocelyn further into the area of his life that he absolutely did not want her a part of. She was so feisty when need be and he was powerless to her pull. When she decided to take matters into her own hands and seduce him, the poor boy never stood a chance.

This is a fast paced read/listen and never bogged down with unneccesary information. The secondary characters were wonderfully interwoven into the storyline and I was completely invested in what the outcome for all of them would be. Considering this couple take some time to try and make babies (Jocelyn’s greatest desire), there was plenty of steam as they two are drawn to each other despite the reasons they should not be.

I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to digging into the next one, immediately.

Man made of ice and a woman on fire!

This is amazing! This story sucked me in! I love Rebecca McKernan as the narrator for the first two parts of this series! Her voice really brings to life this medieval time full of sorcery and mystery! I love the time and setting of these books and this one is especially fun!

Jocelyn is a norman. But also saxon, which is why she doesn't want to marry a saxon barbarian. She is unwilling but wants nothing more than to be a mother. But Wolfstan wants nothing more than to never touch her and to continue on his journey to find the answer to a riddle that could save his family.
Both are stubborn, both want something they can't have yet. The sexual tension is strong and the suspense is killer. This is another amazing story by Judith Sterling and I can't wait for the rest! Rebecca McKernan does a beautiful job with the ladies and gentleman. This is very well worth a credit!

A wonderful historical romance

Of the varied historical romance genre, the Medevil period is my favorite. Soul of the Wolf is didn't disappoint, it's a beautifully written love story, capturing and holding my attention me from start to end. Judith Sterling created a vivid image of the setting and period's cultural challenges. Lady Jocelyn and Wulfstan are both captivating characters, and their passionate journey was wholly enthralling.

A stellar performance by Rebecca McKernan; she captured the emotions of, and connections between the characters while breathing life into Sterling's words. The soul of the Wolf is must listen, and I strongly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and my unbiased review is voluntarily given.
