About this listen

Only divine intervention could have guided Jolena Leigh Michaelsson to the doorstep of a ramshackle manor in Pennsylvania, bringing her face-to-face with the man she has waited her whole life to find. There is just one problem. Mathias McGregor died two centuries ago--Mathias, Revolutionary War ranger and spy, battles his conscience and his heart when he finds himself falling for the beautiful violinist invading his home. Jolena is mortal and deserves far more than what he as a spirit can offer her. When Jolena's family motto leads them to unearth a valuable coded message--the very message Mathias died trying to deliver to General Washington--Jolena vows to unravel the mystery surrounding the cryptic document. But someone else wants the message, and he'll stop at nothing to get it, not even murder. Divine intervention brought them together--will it also allow them to find forever?

Revolutionary, in more ways than one. ❤️🏠❤️

In the midst of a revolution, sometimes you need spiritual guidance. In the case of Mathias McGregor, he was decades gone, and life saving to Jolena Leigh Michaelsson. Does that mean the story ends here, absolutely not! Mathias died trying to deliver to General Washington--Jolena vows to unravel the mystery. This is a story worth reading. Loved the reader and story!

Spirits everywhere

I’m not a believer in ghosts, per se, but there are things that sometimes can’t be explained by ordinary reasoning. Things that defy logic. So what would I do if I discovered I lived in a haunted house?

That’s the question Jolena Leigh Michaelsson faces. She was drawn to this house but it’s the inhabitants who make her want to stay. Or it’s a mutual admiration society. After all, these soldiers from the Revolutionary War have chased away many owners before but when Jolena plays her ‘fiddle’, they decide to let her stay. Or at least not try to scare her off. That ‘fiddle’ is a violin – Jolena plays in an orchestra and is world-renown. She and her dog Dakota have a pretty good thing going as she settles into her new home, finally setting up her many heirloom treasures. Jolena loves history so when she discovers her ghosts have been dead for more than two hundred years, she’s intrigued.

This book is part mystery, part exploration of the paranormal, and part romance. Mathias is the leader of the ghosts and the one who makes most of the overtures toward Joelna. She, for her part, is receptive. He might not be corporeal, but he’s a fascinating man whose story intrigues her. The mystery part of the story carries from graves to caves with a stop in Scotland in between. Mathias is able to fly with her on the airplane and so keeps her company. When Joelna visits a castle in Scotland, she meets a Scottish Medieval Warrior ghost, Kellen. I happen to know he has his own story, so check that one out as well.

I enjoyed this audiobook. The characters Ms. Peterson creates are rich and full, the story creative and unique. As with any ghost story, I wondered what would happen in the end. I was happy with the ending, so that was good. I’m a sucker for a good romance.

Lee Ahonen narrated this book and I thought she did a good job. Her Scottish brogue wasn’t as strong as I might have liked, but overall it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a paranormal romance with a lot of history thrown in.
