About this listen

First rule of thievery: Don't be a hero. When Eli broke the rules and saved the Council Kingdoms, he thought he knew the price, but resuming his place as the Shepherdess' favorite isn't as simple as bowing his head. Now that she has her darling back, Benehime is setting in motion a plan that could destroy everything she was created to protect, and even Eli's charm might not be enough to stop her.

But Eli Monpress always has a plan, and with disaster rapidly approaching, he's pulling in every favor he can think of to make it work, including the grudging help of the Spirit Court's new Rector, Miranda Lyonette. But with the world in panic, the demon stirring, and the Lord of Storms back on the hunt, it's going to take more than luck and charm to pull Eli through this time. He's going to have to break a few more rules and work with some old enemies if he's going to survive.

I wish more books and I don't

Briliant. The story is properly build with each book and with this great finish, where everything is wrapped. With space to dream (cannot say more due spoilers). That's reason for my title.

However, if there will be other book with only Eli's trickery, I will lisen it immediately, as he is very entertaining character :-)

Surprise ending

An excellent end to the trilogy, with some wonderful twists. Not the ending I expected. A lovely world concept, taken all the way to its logical ends.

The reader was quite good, with identifiable voices for characters/spirits and a different tone entirely for the narrator.

Wonderful story. Phenomenol performance.

This book finished out a great series with a bang. The story builds through the end.

A worthy companion to Prince's Bride and Giamon' s Stardust.

Rachel Aaron is on my list of: "The day their next book is up on Audible, I'm buying it" authors.

Magical Story Telling, Brilliantly Narrated

Where does Spirit's End rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've listened to at least 500 audio books. This story, including all 5 books, is certainly among my favorites. Rachel Aaron is a brilliantly animated, enlightened story teller. Luke Daniels one of the most talented narrators I've ever heard! Bravo! He brings each of a multitude of male, female and disembodied characters into a convincing reality and remains consistent in his characterization throughout about 100 hours during all 5 books in the series.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is fantastical, magical fun without apology to the "reality" of our human world, or to the universe of fictional literature. Rachel Aaron creates a uniquely fresh, enervating universe filled with wizards, demons, animated objects, awakened spirits and gods. Dark drama, good vs evil brutality mingled a twinkling, childish spirit that defies seriousness and reminds us of the spiritual essence of existence: we are playing a game. The game of Eli Monpress is played with charm, brilliant creativity, and unrelenting tenacity. He plays for the sake of playing and cares about winning only for the sake of reaching a meaningless goal: To be the Greatest Thief, with The Highest Bounty on his head.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

Luke Daniels one of the most talented narrators I've ever heard! Bravo! He brings each of a multitude of male, female and disembodied characters into a convincing reality and remains consistent in his characterization throughout about 100 hours during all 5 books in the series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I feel a perpetual sense of amused satisfaction knowing that I am being guided through an adventure that is fresh and pure and new at every turn. I've read at least 4,000 books. There are few books I have found as genuinely entertaining.

Any additional comments?

I don't know if this series will continue with book #6, but I'll buy it. I'm still waiting for the next in the Dragon Series too!

Fabulous

The whole series of 5 books is fabulous - plot, narration, everything. It's a page turner to the very end, and Luje Daniels' voice characterizations are superb.
