Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter returns with another pulse-pounding thriller featuring FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock...

A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to bring him down. They soon discover that the killer has blood ties to an infamous and now long-dead monster. Savich and Sherlock are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight, and the chase is on.

At the same time, Agent Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather didn't simply walk away from his family twenty-two years ago: he was, in fact, murdered by his wife, Lucy's grandmother. Determined to find the truth, Lucy moves into her grandmother's Chevy Chase mansion. What she finds, however, is a nightmare. Not only does she discover the truth of what happened all those years ago, but she faces a new mystery, one that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations.

As the hunt for the serial killer escalates, Savich realizes he's become the killer's focus, and perhaps the next victim. It's up to Lucy to stop this madness before it's too late.

Didn't Finish It

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Seemed disjointed and slow. Did not like the narrator got bored and quit listening.

Would you ever listen to anything by Catherine Coulter again?

Yes, I love most of her other books.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ?

sandra burr, or one of the earlier narrators.

Do you think Split Second: An FBI Thriller needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

Any additional comments?

Meh

Female commentator's voice was annoying at times when trying to convey emotion. Story was inter-woven well, but tied up in a bow too easily. Left hanging with Knob Hill connection.

Read like a romance novel

The actual story in this book is rather entertaining. They readers are not very good. We both almost quit listening because of the Raiders, but we did want to find out how the thriller part of the FBI story ended. I would not recommend this book.

A Great Story

Another great story by Catherine Coulter. The violence and twists keep the readers in their toes. Looking forward to start the next book.

Not up to the Coulter I've enjoyed in the past

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Didn't care for the multiple voices and the way they "read" their lines. Did not seem natural. Also the plot and the characters were unrealistic.
I've enjoyed other Coulter books, so this one did not meet my expectations.

If you’ve listened to books by Catherine Coulter before, how does this one compare?

Not as good.

What didn’t you like about Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ’s performance?

Seemed to be "reading" a script - did not sound natural.

Fascinating story about a serial killer very tense

vicious villain kept me on the edge of my seat. The villain was very unique and a creative idea having her the daughter of a serial killer. she was so vicious and heartless. the subplot about the ring was very interesting also.

Very good narration and story

This narration is very good. The book is two stories and another little story well woven together with mystery, excitement, and a romance. Very enjoyable to read and very enjoyable to listen to.

Great addition to the FBI Series

I loved this book but I am a die-hard Coulter fan, especially of her FBI series books. This one did not disappoint.

People really run toward gun shots!

Would you try another book from Catherine Coulter and/or Renee Raudman and Paul Costanzo ?

Have read other CC books, and was satisfied with those. Not this one.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Non-standard villian. All the

Any additional comments?

Story line O.K., not CC's best. I had no problem with either reader, acceptable. But everytime there is a gun fight, she has multiple people, including young kids running toward the shooting, or just standing in the open watching, 3 or 4 times in the story (really?)! Like every person would be that stupid. Made me want to stop listening, made story much less believeable. Some interesting twists but generally would not recommend unless you would run toward those gun shots.

This was a very good audio book. My only concern was with the science fiction aspects of the theme.
