Story of the joy in "ordinary" faithful living and committed loving.
Narration is spot on! Brought the story to life with pronunciation and inflictuons exactly as a mid western farmer. Great!

excellent depiction of the times
This is the 4th and final book in a series, but an excellent stand alone telling the story of a farm family in the 1920's and 1930's on the American plains. From prosperity through the drought and dust bowl the financial, psychological, emotional and human interest of this era are well captured in the core characters. My mother grew up on a farm in Nebraska through this era and her stories ring true to Janette Oke's fictional overview. The narrator settled into this time frame as these rural characters with warmth and believability.
If you are interested in what life was really like in this era I highly recommend "Spring's Gentle Promise".

Another Great one by Janette Oke!
Just like always, Janette Oke did a wonderful job writing this series! I've loved her books for many years!
Johnny Heller did a good job narrating it, although at times I could hear him swallow, which got annoying after awhile, so I'd stop listening for a little while before I could finish it.

Sweet Promise
Joshua Jones, all grown, shouldering the responsibility of farm and family. The thrill of owning a car, finding love, and fatherhood. The lean years of drought and barely surviving. This story expressed all of those things and more. The lesson of God's provision and promises woven throughout. I cannot forget to mention how Janette Oke uses this story to teach us what it means to cherish your spouse.
I have enjoyed this series as narrated by Johnny Heller. Though I read the books decades ago the story seems new.

Great Story Proper Ending
Where does Spring's Gentle Promise rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top of the list. The entire Series
What other book might you compare Spring's Gentle Promise to and why?
Jannette Oke does a phenomenal job with the entire series.
Which scene was your favorite?
There were so many. But I loved the part where Josh realized God is his strength. That even in the good and bad, it is not by our works but by the hand of God.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Family, Friends, Love, Courage and Faith
Any additional comments?
I liked the narrator and how he conveyed the story. I loved the expression of Faith and even doubt. Sometimes there is always a happy story, written as if one always has faith and that everything is good. This book takes you on a journey of good and bad times, pain, heartache and Joy. But shows that we can always turn to God and Christ. To live and share love and the importance of family. To give to one another. To love God and family. It takes you through childhood and adulthood and relatable growing pains. How wonderful a book series. It has helped me to look at things differently and the desire to be better. For me, this book held a life changing perspective of how to honor myself, others, and God. And how to trust more in Him.
You will thoroughly be blessed and encouraged by this book. Its a great read for anyone who has experienced love, pain, joy, and want to learn how to trust in God more and to cherish their loved ones.
