In "The Toad, the Turtle, and the Duck," three strangers commiserate about animal bureaucracy while waiting in a complaint line. In "Hello Kitty," a cynical feline struggles to sit through his prison-mandated AA meetings. In "The Squirrel and the Chipmunk," a pair of star-crossed lovers is separated by prejudiced family members.
With original illustrations by Ian Falconer, author of the bestselling Olivia series of children's books, these stories are David Sedaris at his most observant, poignant, and surprising.PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio.©2010 David Sedaris (P)2010 Hachette Audio

The stories are more like parables and there are some violent ones and sexual themes. Definitely not child appropriate.
The voice acting is outstanding and it is the reason I did not return the book. Once I understood what the actual feel of the book was meant to be, I enjoyed the stories more. However, as an animal lover, I found certain aspects disturbing.
Not the cute stories I had hoped for
