Publisher's summary

Earth's last Assault Troopers become Star Vikings, raiding alien worlds. In the third book of the Extinction Wars series, the Emperor of the Lokhars declares a holy crusade against the last humans, promising to finish what he started. Years ago at his orders, the Lokhars nuked the Earth and sprayed it with a bio-terminator. Creed has begun raiding alien worlds for more starships and the tech needed to clean the radioactive Earth. But how can his handful of cruisers stop the approaching armada? If Creed hopes to save humanity, he'll need to unlock the secrets of the Forerunner artifact he brought back from hyperspace. Then, in a race against time, he'll have to risk everything on a desperate raid into the heart of the alien empire.

Great Story

This story is one that you don't want to end. But the narration is grrat! I can't wait for the next book!

Yep it is almost like Vikings in space.

What made the experience of listening to Star Viking the most enjoyable?

The narrator is perfect.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I don't know. It's a lot like the previous two in the series. Even the main character is very one dimensional.

Which character – as performed by Christian Rummel – was your favorite?

Creed

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it was just too long to do so.

Any additional comments?

Third in the Extinction Wars series. If it ain't broke don't fix it right? The formula that worked so well in the first book, is really starting to wear thin by this book. But hey we've got this dude that will take down the hordes of arrogant aliens, save the world, and stumble upon some answers to the ancient machines and the Creator. What's not to like?

Claath didn't show up at all in this, which was a bit disappointing. However the grand plot did move along. Some info is revealed about the ancient machines, but mainly more questions are left to ponder about them.

There are clearly more books in this series to come. While I enjoyed this book I'm just not sure I can take much more of Creed being the stubborn, "damn the space nukes, full speed ahead," lucky guy that he is. According to the book 8 years have past, yet everyone is the exact same character they were in the first book. I would expect some change. At least maybe a real introspective moment at some point. Having said that I'm looking forward to the next book if only to learn the secret of the machines.

survival by the skin of your teeth

What did you like best about this story?

when you think humanity is at is last draw, Creed comes up with something on the fly at the last moment.

Any additional comments?

the book had a good pace up the first 3/4 of the way but the last 1/4 seem like it was too much of a rush to end. Things fall into play too easily on the last 1/4 than compared to the first 3/4.

really good series. keeps you hooked...

I love this series. How the humans have to fight to stay alive in a universe that wants to wipe them all out.
The narration is outstanding and makes you know who is who with no problems.

Very Surprised

Ok so I initially started this series with some trepidation. as I got into book 2, I was really in anricipation of contnuing. By the time I got to book 3, I couldn't wait to start listening. The author provides you with an action packed and very enjoyable listen. I really liked the sarcastic humor of Commander Greer. Several times during the series I caught myself giggling, and cheering him and his crew. only wish that he had saved his girl. that would have been the icing on the chivalry cake.

Once again, Christian Rummel delivered a superb narration. His ability to mimic characters accents, and to distinguish between male and female characters makes his narrations believable and enjoyable. His narration really gives this story that extra punch. I look forward to listening to more from both the narrator and the author..

Inside Zap Brannigan's dreams. :-)

Would you listen to Star Viking again? Why?

Imagine a Futurama Zap Brannigan that can actually deliver! This is a fun light listen, totally nonsensical, so far fetched it becomes whimsical! The tone is always dead serious. I have a sneaky suspicion the author wrote this while listening to original batman tv shows...

What does Christian Rummel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Christian Rummel gives it an Adam West quality... the android N7 is the boy wonder... the bad guys are ''ominous''. Yea for mindless action. I don't see how it could have been done better

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The quote ''We are the star Vikings baby, we'r here to rock your world and bust you'r balls'' conveys the general mood of any hight point in this book.

Any additional comments?

Well written does not mean brilliant but it does intend well structured phrases, understandable dialog and a story line, Christian Rummel delivers on that. So again! An easy listen, while puttering around the house, doing dishes, or driving...

lots of nice historical references makes it good.

I enjoyed that there are a lot of nice historical references. The story is a little bit silly, but hey SciFi is never all that sensible. Worth a listen, and good author.
