About this listen

The Jedi reluctantly team up with the nefarious Lourna Dee in this all-new Star Wars audiobook original, narrated by a full cast.

Lourna Dee is not a villain. She’s not a hero. She’s a survivor. The former Tempest Runner, wanted by both her Nihil allies and the Republic, has evaded imprisonment and death from both groups more times than she can count. But even Lourna cannot outrun the mysterious blight that devours everything wherever it appears. And Marchion Ro, the Eye of the Nihil, has announced that only he knows the secret to stopping it.

Desperate, the Republic and Jedi turn to Lourna with an offer: help the Jedi stop the blight, and in return, Lourna will have a clean slate and the chance to decide her own future.

Teamed with Avar Kriss and Keeve Trennis, the same Jedi who once hunted her, Lourna leads the search for the Nihil’s chief scientist, Baron Boolan, the only being who may have answers to the mystery of the blight, as well as Marchion Ro’s true plans.

Lourna weighs the Republic’s offer of true freedom against her own instincts for survival as her team heads deeper into Nihil territory, straight toward the very dangers Lourna has worked for so long to elude. And when the opportunity arises to face off against Marchion Ro himself, even Lourna Dee may be willing to sacrifice everything to fulfill a quest for revenge.

I liked how it was different from other high republic novels in its writing from one person’s storytelling

Great performance

Cavan Scott has outdone himself again 🙌 and as a reader of the comics, this ties in perfectly.

Best Audiodrama yet for The High Republic era!

So good I had to listen in one go. Couldn’t stop. Highly recommend checking this one out even if audiobooks are not your normal thing.

Literally clapped at the conclusion

I’m loving the entire High Republic series, especially the full cast productions like this. Having said that however, as incredible as each actor was it was a bit over the top. During some scenes the spitting, heavy breathing, grunting , yelling, etc, was so distracting it made me want to shut it off at times. Overall it was a great part of the entire series.

Amazing voice actors but a bit much

The handling as a wrap-up to a set of storylines for this window of the HR era was amazingly handled, the characterisations and performances were amazing, and the pacing felt really well done for how much happened

great handling of the characters, great performances!

Muy divertido escuchar el audio incidental mientras se lleva a cabo la historia. Le añade una capa extra de detalle y se agradece

Entretenida historia

Complex character interactions, decent drama, high stakes, and crucial story development. A must listen for High Republic fans. The cast did some excellent work. Marc Thompson as Marchion Ro continues to be a highlight of audio High Republic. Manoel Felciano as Tey Sirrek was a hoot! I will admit, there were times when I couldn’t tell the female characters apart. I can’t remember ever having that problem in the past, but this time around they didn’t feel very distinct. A scene with Avar, Keeve, and Quinn (iirc) was impossible for me to keep up with lol. BUT Louna’s voice was unmistakable! The actress performing Lourna gives the character so much confidence and charisma, which feels very fitting for who Lourna Dee is. I hope this isn’t the last we hear of Jessica Almasy as Lourna Dee.

An enjoyable Star Wars experience!

most how are public stories are very dramatic, but in a very good way. this felt a little more like a fanfic than proper fiction, which may not be fair to say, but how it felt to me. things are handled a little quicker than usual and they also are a little more. Saturday morning cartoon level of drama. it has characters you know and things you like, but didn't quite feel like it had any of the gravitas that it should. when your BBEG from the other books is taken down all too easily then disappears from the plot with little more than a paragraph of explanation, it just felt on the shallow side.

High Republic Lite

Lorna is a hate to love her character, Marchion Ro is a love to hate him. They are so similar but their motivations can’t be more different. Genuinely loved Lorna’s story.

Anything About Lorna Dee is great.
