Publisher's summary

The reunited Jedi prepare to strike back against the ruthless Nihil in this thrilling sequel to Star Wars: The Eye of Darkness.

For over a year, Jedi Masters Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann were kept apart by the Nihil’s Stormwall. After Avar makes a daring escape from inside the Occlusion Zone, the star-crossed Jedi are reunited. But while the physical distance between them has evaporated, their shared grief over their failure to protect the galaxy from the Nihil threat remains.

To rally the Jedi Order and the Republic, Avar and Elzar cling to their belief in serving Light and Life. Together, they lead a daring mission into Nihil space to liberate the planet of Naboo and show those trapped behind the Stormwall that the Jedi will never abandon them. Now back within close orbit of each other, the two Jedi Masters can no longer deny the bond that has always drawn them back together and made them stronger.

After finally embracing their true desires and imbued with renewed purpose, Avar and Elzar devise a plan to turn the tide of the conflict with the Nihil once and for all. Accompanied by Jedi Knights Bell Zettifar, Burryaga, and Vernestra Rwoh, the Jedi begin their hunt for Marchion Ro. But to seek out the Nihil’s dangerous leader, the Jedi will have to survive the Nameless terrors that thus far they have been powerless to stop.

One of the best of the high Republic

The interweaving of storylines, providing closure to sum and opening others great character development. Expanding Elzar Mann’s and Avar’s characters while weaving in their history was a nice touch. Combining in Bells, Burries and Vernestra’s effort together truly made it feel like a Jedi effort and individual storylines scattered different books.

A lesson in character work

As always, Tessa Gratton's character work shines like the sun through the pages of this book. They provide satisfying character archs for multiple favorite characters and even resurrected interest in some I had stopped caring about back in Phase 1. It does have a significant "second book in a trilogy" feel when it comes to story but these characters could be getting groceries and if Tessa Gratton is writing them, I'm reading it.

I really liked how they made the force ,or particularly avar used it. she is very powerful. I can't wait to see how the nihil get defeated.

Amazingly written & preformed

I find my self very happy with this book. I’ve listen to all of the Star Wars books and this one is up on top. The writing is very nicely done. You feel like you’re there. It definitely could be made into a movie and when I watch it I will have been able to say did I see this. For it’s depicted so well(if you want to feel like you’re watching a movie put it to 1.35 speed. And as always a narrator can make or break a good book. Marc Thompson never disappoints he brings it to life for you. The struggle to breath the pain, everything. Worth a listen 100%

Great Chapter of this Story

I enjoyed this addition to the High Republic saga. Marchion is as a dummy and conniving as ever. Porter Engel is one of the best Jedi in the series. I also enjoyed the deepening relationship between Elzar and Avar. Highly recommended

Excellent, it remains.

The story adds depth to the complex nature of the force. I truly enjoyed the vivid sounds and the pace of this Star Wars story. Thank you.

Marc Thompson is the best

Marc Thompson is the best reader out there, I won’t even listen to other Star Wars books that don’t have him reading because they are god awful.
As far as the story goes for Temptations of the force, it was ok. Feel like it was a lot of filler and could have been told in half the time or less. But it’s at least worth listening to if you are invested in the story if the high republic.
