Publisher's summary

Here is the explosive conclusion of the blockbuster trilogy that chronicles the never-before-told story of the young Han Solo. Set before the Star Wars movie adventures, these books chronicle the coming of age of the galaxy's most famous con man, smuggler, and thief.

The Millennium Falcon is "the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy". So when Han Solo wins it in a game of sabacc, he and Chewbacca become kings of the smugglers: uncatchable, unstoppable. But with the Empire clamping down, Han knows his luck can't last. Still, when an old girlfriend who is now the leader of an insurgent Rebel group offers him a shot at an incredible fortune, Han can't resist. The plan seems a sure thing. The resistance will be light and the take enormous. Han and his friends will divide it equally with the Rebels.

Too bad for Han that the planet Ylesia is far from a pushover, that the Rebels have an agenda of their own, and that smuggler friends can often turn into enemies...quicker than light speed.

Critic reviews

"David Pittu ably narrates the third installment of a Han Solo trilogy over a discreet use of sound and music from the films." (AudioFile)

Good but short

The story is thrilling and exciting, as is the very talented narrator. What dissapointed me however, is the length of each book that I needed to pay for individually.

I have a good feeling about this!

This was a good series about Han Solo and the tragic love-life he leads. Was Lando the "REAL" owner of the Millennium Falcon? Boba Fett is just a simple guy trying to make his way through the Galaxy.

Right up to,...

This book is a perfect background of Han Solo and the best of the three. It explains his inability to love a woman, as well as his background with Jabba the Hut and Lando. And it brings you right up to...."the old man and the farmer boy in the cantina."

The best of a great trilogy.

I read this as a kid. I know they cut a lot of parts out but that’s just the way it is. I hope they rerelease it under the Essential Legends collection without abridgment. Think of it as an Audio Drama.

Disney is killing Star Wars

Whatever Disney is doing to the franchise they need to stop! This book series is how the movie should have been. Why did Disney get rid of the Bria character she was really important to the entire Star Wars timeline. Also why weren't the Hutts in the movie another big miss for Disney. This book has Saved Star Wars for me!!!!

The real story behind Han Solo

As always pick up the Kindle or the paperback or this book first. It’s 100 times better. However I’m legally blind and am a dyed in wool Legends fan. So rather than hate I view these as mini audio movies of books I love. It’s 2020. We are sadly probably not going to see an unabridged Legends. So don’t hate. Hit the light. And turn on book 3 of Han Solo’s background. With music and sound effects it’s great.

A note on the narration. A lot of the words that are mispronounced, or not miss pronounced in this book. They were only written words until the prequels. How does one even say Kashyyk or Coruscant? Even Palpatine was a written word. He was only The Emperor in OTC. These books came out in the 80s. Lucas used Legends to enrich his universe.

Good story and book

My first thing I wanna say is I do nit like this reader. The way he says sabacc is not how the movies say jt or other readers. And there’s a couple other things that he doesn’t say right and says a lot. Like palpat”i”ne. It gets super annoying. Over all the book has a great story line and I wish it wasn’t abridged

Abridged and bad pronunciation

Hate abridged books but it was the only way it was available. I also don't like the fact that the narrator didn't do his homework on pronunciation uncertain popular words and names.

Good Book, But Dislike Abridgment

This, like all of the Star Wars books needs to be redone unabridged! Too much left out of the story.
