About this listen

Merciless attacks by an invincible alien force have left the New Republic reeling. Dozens of worlds have succumbed to occupation or annihilation, and even the Jedi Knights have tasted defeat. In these darkest of times, the noble Chewbacca is laid to rest, having died as heroically as he lived. A grief-stricken Han Solo is left to fit the pieces of his shattered soul back together before he loses everything: friends, family, and faith.

Refusing help from Leia or Luke, Han becomes the loner he once was, seeking to escape the pain of his partner's death in adventure...and revenge. When he learns that an old friend from his smuggling days is operating as a mercenary for the enemy, he sets out to expose the traitor. But Han's investigation uncovers an even greater evil: a sinister conspiracy aimed at the very heart of the New Republic's will and ability to fight.

Now Han must face down his inner demons and, with the help of a new and unexpected ally, honor Chewbacca's sacrifice in the only way that matters - by being worthy of it.

awful narration

great story even tho it's sadly abridged but the narration was just bad. I don't think he has ever watched star wars or heard any of the characters talk. Han Solo frequently sounded like a gangster from the 1920s. it was just bizzare.

overall good but just personal preference...

The overall story was great, performance was good, just prefer if "Mark Thompson" would of narrated the story.

Great story thus far but…

The narrator didn’t even try to sound like what the characters sound like. Even I can make a better attempt. Han and Lando sound like the same person… dislike.

Just wish it wasn't abridged.

A classic story and well read but needs to be longer and not abridged as it were.

Too Short

The really good narration saved this abridgment. Love James Luceno’s work, I just wish we could get unabridged titles. Story wasn’t hard to follow, but read more like a screen play than the full novel.

Anthony Heald hits the mark, albeit abridged…

Narrator finally hits his tone, volume and pacing in this one and the production team with him. The story is great, but it leaves the listener craving the unabridged version. 6/10, could listen again.

still hating on Anthony Heald, and abridged books.

I feel like so much of the story is cut out that it doesn't flow coherently. plus with that hack Anthony heald narrating, it's hard to follow what's left of the story that wasn't butchered to pieces. its really an insult to the author that his story was so distorted and cut to piece's. and Anthony healds voice is so monotone th as t u can't distinguish between characters. thus increasing the confusion.

Meh. it's okay

Not the best at the character voices but not unbearable. this book could have been added to the next one in the series. pretty short.
