About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Dale Brown - “the best military writer in the country” (Clive Cussler) - is back with Starfire, a masterful military thriller that explores a future all too possible and all too close: The weaponization of space.

With the death of his heroic father, bomber and space warfare veteran Patrick McLanahan, Bradley McLanahan must now fly solo, leading a team of young engineers designing Starfire, the world’s first orbiting solar power plant.

Starfire will not only deliver unlimited and inexpensive electricity anywhere on planet Earth, it can also transmit power to the moon, and even to spacecraft and asteroids. It’s a crucial first step in the exploration of the solar system, and Bradley and his team are on the cutting edge.

But U.S. president Kenneth Phoenix’s plans to militarize and industrialize Earth’s orbit sparks an arms race in space that eclipses the darkest and most terrifying days of the Cold War. Before he can prevent it, Bradley and his team are caught at the center of a battle that threatens to become an all-out global conflict for control of space.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story line. lots of abbreviations...too many for my taste. I hope that future stories have a different plot or setup. sometimes the good guy, bad guy plot and shoot them ups get predictable. regardless I enjoyed the story again. not sure if I'll get the next one unless very different somehow...I wish I could descrywhat that would look like but I can't.

interesting, sort of predictable

A nice extension of Dale's earlier stories. it ties together loose ends, and releases others.

This was a good book, however was a little all over the place. The book fell flat in some areas. What could have been a great book is only good. I will say this is another book where the bad guys just seem to keep on winning over and over again and to be perfectly honest if these events were this bold and brazen the world would have ended multiple times.

could have been far better

a new book from Dale Brown in the mclanahan series this book features Bradley McClanahan instead of his father Patrick. the new book and the new story usher into a new series. as always Dale Brown's books are interesting unique and fun to read or in this case listen to the narration was very well done.

Dale Brown at his best!

I wish Dale would write 2 of these a year! Nice to see Brad as a developing story line to carry the saga into the future! Well done Dale, thanks.
