About this listen

*Note* This is a true love story. It is a story about overcoming tragedy and circumstance. It's about learning to heal through the heartache when you would rather hide from it. Lily and Cooper meet, and nothing is ever the same.

"I have dents, bruises, scars, and cracks so deep that it's a wonder I'm not in a million pieces...."

Sometimes things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes pain lies underneath, buried so deep that for a moment you let yourself forget - until you can't.

I didn't realize how numb I was until I started feeling again, and he made me feel - everything. Cooper Hudson came into my life when I needed him the most - twice.

This is my story. This is the story of us.

"It was funny how you never really realized how lifeless you were until someone came along and gave you that shock to the chest that forced your heart to start beating again."

Someone turn down the sap!

First of all, I want to say that this was indeed a sappy love story but I did enjoy it to an extent. This extent was the way-too-coincidental development of the book. Okay, setting that aside, this storyline was definitely a New Adult romance because we didn't encounter past loves even though the young man was supposed to be 30. The young woman seemed immature although I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she was grieving. The story centered itself around their relationship to the exclusion of their respective jobs, and hobbies because they instant became glued to the hip. Love was declared after a mere week of being together and at that time I started to roll my eyes and didn't stop until the epilogue.
The narrator did a great job . As for creditworthiness, I would say yes if you're underage!

Sweet, clean, and slow romance

This story, while very sweet with a clean and adorable romance, was extremely slow.
It doesn't pick up until the last quarter of the book or so.That is when things are revealed and the characters really start moving and acting. I don't think it was necessary to draw out the story for that long, and in the end, that hindered the novel overall.

I sometimes forgot that the characters were in their late 20s-early 30s. They acted very immature most of the time, and just seemed extremely young for their age. This book also had the insta-love element which had me rolling my eyes. Their relationship and feelings were just too coincidental for my liking.
The character's shared a dark history and I think it could've been truly powerful had it been expanded upon better and their relationship written differently. The time jumps messed with the flow of the story which took me out of the connection I had at times with the characters and story itself.

The narrator did a good job with her choices in bringing the female characters to life, though the male characters could've been better as they all sounded similar.

Great Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Stolen Breaths to be better than the print version?

Yes I would because I felt like Corrie Legge did such a great job and had so much emotion in her voice and I wouldn't have gotten that if I had read the print version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lily was my favorite character because she was so sweet and strong I loved how she was able to overcome a couple of big tragedies in her life.

Any additional comments?

This is a great story about true love and strength!!!

a beautiful love story.

it was a great book, but I do have some pet peeves and she hit them. they are called hiccups, not hick offs. and when you agree with something you nod your head not shake it. nodding is up and down and shaking is side to side. one more thing, she is a twenty something woman and it bugs me that she calls her father Daddy, instead of Dad or father. once in awhile calling him Daddy would be OK and place more meaning on the emotion she is feeling at the time but that is all she calls him, and it bugs me.
the writing aside, the story was fantastic and it's hard to believe that it's a true story. the irony of the events it's absolutely fictional, except it's not. this kind of love is the kind women dream of. it's captivating. I would still recommend this book to friends.

Wonderful Story

The narration was very good and this was a clean modern romance with lots of twists. Lily experienced a trauma when she was twenty that no person should have to go through. Cooper rescued her from it and then Lily disappeared with the memory buried down deep. They meet again when Lily comes home to bury her father five years later. Only Cooper knows who she is. Lily met Cooper's grandmother on the plane ride and offers her a ride home after comforting her during the ride. The story goes on from there and they fall in love. Cooper loves Lily enough to wait and help her regain her memory through counseling. He tells her something that all future husbands should tell their wives. I love you enough to wait until our wedding day before we are intimate. There were several other important lines during the story that exemplify what a good marriage should be. Such as the line that says I should tell her how much I love her every day and show her what it means to be loved or something to that effect. Although there were some negative parts they were woven into the story so well that you kept reading to see what the end would be. I got this book via audiobook boom.com.

Sad

The story is both slow and sad. The subject matter tragic and yet your aware of none of this until 3/4 of the way into the story. When I say slow I mean slow. The last 1/3 of the book is where all the story unfolds. I'm glad I hung in there. Still it was way longer and drawn out then I felt most people would hang in for ( just my opinion) narrator did an awesome job on her portrayal of the characters. I received this book free of charge in order to receive an honest review.

I couldn't believe this was a true story!!!

Any additional comments?

I loved every heartfelt and broken aspect of this story, even moreso knowing that it's a true story.

The narration was excellent and even though you know there is an HEA on the horizon, getting there was beautifully sad. Happy sad.

I'm not sure what the second book in the series will be about but I'm all in!!

good story but starts slow

i had to give this book a couple of tries. it started very slow and I don't know if I was creeped out in the beginning because of the narrator or cause she kept saying "my daddy". it got better and I'm glad I finished it i just dont know if its something ill come back to and listen to. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A TRUE LOVE STORY

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

For someone that loves a good love story, and real happily ever afters this is a book for them.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline was well told. There was some great comic relief as posed by the bar owner and his bad jokes.

Which scene was your favorite?

The heart wrenching story when Cooper told Lily the story of how they first met, an incident she remembered nothing of, and yet was a devastating life changer for Cooper.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me cry a LOT, I know part of that was what was going on with me the reader, but this book helped draw some of the fear, the aloneness from me and I love books that heal as you read them.
