Great book but…

It’s very American centric, audiences are of course more global now, would love a book with multiple contexts and cultures

Finally, Strategic Planning is About Doing!

Strategic Doing is easily the most digestible reading (I followed along with the hardcover book) I’ve done on the subject of planning. As a public service leadership practitioner, I have been professionally frustrated with the implantation of complex processes that overwhelm or disconnect staff. The emphasis on analysis and rigorous collection and submission of data and reports has always deflated any momentum to reinvigorate an organization. I think Strategic Doing might be the answer I’ve been looking for in terms of practical application and employer and stakeholder engagement.

Great book on strategy

I have the unique opportunity to read this book and learn directly from one of the authors, Scott Hutchenson, at Purdue University. This book breaks down the concept of strategic doing into 10 steps for agile leadership, and they make it extremely easy to understand. The book is an easy read and can produce exceptional results.

Fantastic Book

I would recommend this book for professionals who want to get things done in any stage of their career. This book is a fantastic example of academia based on practice. It is perhaps one of the first, if not the very first, business book that I have read (I have read many) that focuses on teaching skills with immediate applicability. The authors understand the need for action and the detrimental nature of long, traditional planning cycles. I thought the book was extremely interesting as well as being helpful. The stories told in the book illustrated how strategic doing is accomplished. Great read!
