About this listen

Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone— other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events.

Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late. (Her daughter Winnie is convinced he must be there for her!) Vincent does his best and casts a spell "guaranteed" to help Cara find the One. But when she actually starts meeting men, none of them are her type. If only they were as perfect for her as the dogs they adopt. Did her screw-up fairy godfather botch the spell? If so, what will it mean not only for Cara but Vincent as well?

An excellent book

I am a dog lover ( I have 3) so any cover with a dog on it will attract my attention. But this book surprised me because the story went where I didn’t expect it would. I did not expect fairy godfather involvement. The story is excellent and , for me, very relatable. The narrator is awesome and managed different voices and different dialects very well.

modern Cinderella with a twist

This is a modern Cinderella type story, but with a twist. The main characters is older, divorced and the fairy Godmother is actually a Godfather and about 25 years late. His name is Vincent and is hilarious with his Jersey accent. On a journey of self discovery and coming into her own, Cara gets her delayed HEA but not before Vincent's magic spell gives her a few detours. She gets to talk to her dog as a human, that was fun.
Ms. Gray's accents and various voices are great, adding a bit more life to the story narrative would have been great.

Sweet Romantic Comedy

Stray Magic by Jackie Bouchard is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Aisling Gray. This is the first book of Jackie’s that I have read/listened to and it definitely won’t be my last. This is a sweet modern day fairy tale romance with a wonderful twist for dog lovers.

Aisling did a great job narrating. I did listen to the book at 1.5 – 1.75 speed because otherwise it seemed a bit slow to me. She did a great job bringing Cara to life.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic comedies, modern day fairytales, or anyone who enjoys stories that are dog themed.

Stray Magic

Cara is just looking for happiness and so she makes a wish, and then pops in her fairy godfather. Things then take a turn for the unusual. Cara is an animal lover and works in a pet store. So she starts looking at every new man as the potential Mr. Right. The story is funny, unique and clean. I enjoyed the take on Cinderella going to the ball near the end. And really enjoyed the story. The narration was nice and easy to listen to.

Fun, Quirky Romance!

I had so much fun listening to this fun, and quirky romance. The story was so heartwarming, and the humor kept a smile on my face the whole time. I love a story with a strong single mom who sometimes needs reminding that she is more than worthy of love. The Fairy Godfather was hilarious, the dogs are always adorable and the story is delightful. The narration by Aisling Gray was wonderful. Her inflections and comedic timing were all spot on and I loved her accents. This is my first experience with both Bouchard and Gray and I will definitely look for more of their work.

Great Book!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises.
The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. Nice take on a Fairy tale 😁

This was a good take on a fairy tale. I wish there had been a little more interaction with the love interest or at least an epilogue that told a little more, but it was well written and kept me interested.

What a fun and unique romantic comedy!

I absolutely enjoyed listening to this fun story! I could totally relate to Cara! I’m not even a dog person but I loved all the heartwarming dogs and humor. I do love animals and enjoy listening to stories which include them in such an fun way.

This is such a unique story. Definitely different than anything I have read. To have a fairy godfather that is way late in her life and confused about how to cast the right spell for her is quite humorous. This is an awesome light read!

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

Vincent is such a fun character and the story sucked me in from the beginning to conclusion. This is kind of a fun modern fairytale for moms that are soon to go thru empty nest. Cara has gone thru a recent divorce and is feeling upset because her ex is already engaged to someone.

This is a fast paced story with great characters and a HEA conclusion.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by this talented author.

A light and a captivating story

This book is a true spin an Cinderella. The fairy godfather is so funny. The supporting characters of the dogs is great. I love dogs and her use to help the story along is fantastic. Poor Cara has gone through a divorce hence the fairy godfather instead of the usual godmother. He is clueless which is hilarious. The narrator is great. She narrate both male and female voices very well. This book is so enjoyable I recommend listening to it..I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Laugh and bark at this unique and funny story!

Romance isn’t my usual genre; however, as a librarian, I like to stretch myself and expand my horizons. This was a very unique story that resonated with me as a single dad with a teenager.

Single mom Cara has a teenage daughter who will head to college soon and doesn’t want her mom to be alone. A leprechaun Vincent magically appears to grant Cara her wish of meeting Mr. Right. It was hilarious! I loved how each man she met seemed perfect at first, but then had some major flaws. This is too real! I enjoyed the female perspective because I experienced similar dating experiences. Vincent was very supportive and complimentary towards Cara. He reminds me of my married female friends who are supportive of me.

The paranormal element was intriguing. I wanted to see if and how Vincent’s spell worked. Did he mess up the wording? Listen closely and laugh!

The dogs were a huge bonus. I loved the interaction between the dogs and human characters. It was great seeing dogs placed with nice homes. Hmm…maybe if I get a dog I can meet my Ms. Right. Lol

Aisling Gray, the narrator, really engages the listener with the story. She does a great job with voices and her enunciation was perfect. Many narrators mumble their way through consonants. Gray gets them perfect! Any authors looking for a narrator for chick lit need to consider hiring her.
