About this listen

Jonathan Stride and Serena Dial are both investigating high-profile murders in Las Vegas. A celebrity is assassinated during a fling with a prostitute, and a young boy is killed in a brutal hit-and-run incident. When the cases converge, Jonathan and Serena find themselves racing the clock against a determined serial killer and searching for a connection to the unsolved murder of a showgirl years earlier.

Freeman's vivid cast of characters exposes all of Las Vegas' dirty secrets, past and present. And in a rooftop showdown amid the ruins of a 1960s-era casino, the chase comes to a stunning climax.

Like the author's Immoral, Stripped pushes the emotional and sexual limits of its heroes and keeps the listener riveted until the last shocking plot twist.

Vegas Setting Makes This One Work

I'll make 3 points about this book that shoud explai why I enjoyed it and you should too.

First is the remarkable set of characters. John Stride is a native Minnesotan. A simple man, accepting of others and has a great depth of character about him. This is in stark contrast with the glitter and shallowness of Vegas. His partner is transexual, wealthy, and a terrific cop on a force hellbent to destroy her. His girlfriend is also a cop. She escaped a sexually abusive stepfather at 16 and made her way to Vegas. She's street wise, but also smart and driven. So you have 3 distinct detectives, intimately involved with each other, yet from vastly different backgrounds.

Second, the story is riveting. The mystery and suspense kept me interested and surprised me.

Third is it is narrated by Joe Barrett, one of the best in the business.

Good story... lots of suspense and action...

Well written with excellent voice narration. There are a lot of moving Parts here with many characters and somersaulting twists right up to the very end. I found it very entertaining with Vivid scenarios even though the narrative stretches on with eye rolling Mayhem rather often. it is a worthy listen and I am happy to see that the series extends for a dozen or so more volumes.👍

Excellent Story

Truly keeps you on your toes. It was hard to put down and kept me guessing throughout the whole story. I recommend this book and look forward to the next book in this series.

So glad there’s another in this series.

This book begs to be a movie. But Joe Barrett would need to have a part. His voice brings it all to life!

Good story

Enjoyed the drama of the story. The hunt of the serial killer had several twists leading to a big twist near the end.

Good story, ok listen

I enjoyed the story, and have read the previous, but i guess i dont care for the "fargo"-type accent accent in the main character.. or could be the narrator maybe, because i dont care for the female voices he puts on either. I'm not sorry i listened, but probably done with this series.

Love the story but

Not the narration. The author’s story is very well thought out, but I don’t like listening to men reading a females line. The two females in this story are supposed to be so hot and sexy but when the narrator reads their lines they sound like a retired hooker that smoked their entire life.

A fanciful reflection of Las Vegas in its heyday. Ol’’Blue eyes and the gang would be pleased!

Outstanding cast of characters, each one more charming and full of life. Brian Freeman knows how to spin a good yarn and Joe Barrett knows how to bring them to life. Kudos gentlemen.

Fallout from Power

Plus catalog. Good story but about 3 hr too long for me. 1967 relived during the Vegas early years. Good mystery but a few too many surprise ending for me. I really enjoy narrator Joe Barrett and found this author and series from his catalogue. This author is not really for me except via plus catalog. Other reviewers really like this author so l am continuing via plus catalog to see what l maybe overlooking. Hero is a small town detective and that maybe my dislike. The characters in this story were good and colorful. Loved Amanda and her true grit.

Great Book

Another great book from Brian Freeman. A lot of interesting characters and enough plot twists to keep your head spinning. He was a bit preachy with the gay, lesbian and transgender sub plots but the story is good enough to get past this. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
