About this listen

Lee Ann London once had big plans…scholarship, college, love. Then she found herself raising her deceased sister’s twin girls when their father disappeared. Now, with her beautiful girls, a community that depends on her, and her photography studio finally taking off, Lee Ann may not have the life she’d imagined, but it’s definitely the one she wants. Until Cody, her bad-boy ex, returns to Sugar Springs…

Cody’s childhood put a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas. Bouncing around the foster care system, he was always the one to leave before anyone left him first. Then he found a place he wanted to stick: with Lee Ann, the best thing that ever happened to him. Only, he hurt her. Bad. He’s back now, and determined to earn her forgiveness…and maybe win back her love while he’s at it.

I have made no bones about my enjoyment of romance novels. I will even go so far to say that one thing I like about them is their predictability. What can I say? I like a happy ending.

Sugar Springs by Kim Law doesn't disappoint and Natalie Ross was outstanding with the delivery of the story.

Lee Ann London is a busy single mom. She nursed her sister while she was pregnant, won't give too much away here, and took the two little girls after her sister passed away, when Lee Ann wasn't much more than a kid herself. I really enjoyed the fact that Law didn't gloss over some of the struggles a young single mother would face, and given the way that these two little girls came about Law did a wonderful job highlighting Lee Ann's strength and courage without making her into a martyr.

Cody Dalton was the bad boy that Lee Ann gave her heart too in high school, but a crushing blow drove the two of them apart and Cody skipped down. And now, he's back.

We all know that a big part of a book like this is the bad boy proving himself a changed man, but what I loved most about Law's book is that she made Cody just as unsure of himself as Lee Ann was. He wasn't overly confident, he didn't get by on his swagger. He struggled and looked to find a place for himself, and that is why I enjoyed this book.

Romances are predictable, but it's what brings us TO that happy ending that makes or breaks a book for me. Law did a great job weaving a story or broken trust and fragile emotions.
There is some sexual content but not too much.
She set up a few different stories that could continue the Sugar Springs storyline, so I hope she revisits them. I would really love to see Lee Ann, Cody and their girls again.

Would you try another book from Kim Law and/or Natalie Ross?

No - I found all the making things up in one's head tiresome. And the narrator's emphasis on the wrong words in a sentence distracting

Has Sugar Springs turned you off from other books in this genre?

for the moment

What three words best describe Natalie Ross’s voice?

Nauseating, unpleasant, patronising

Could you see Sugar Springs being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Please no

Light on content, heavy on dramatics

I thoroughly enjoyed Sugar Springs. The characters are great and the plot is awesome. Would have liked a bit more spice to the love scenes, though.

Great start on a new series

This story had a lot of depth. I really loved all the characters and I couldn't put is down. Although, not related as in a series, Kim Law's other book "Caught on Camera" was equally good if you like this one.
Natalie Ross does a great job as well. She makes the story come alive and the characters believable. Would definitely listen to both again!

Way good!

It was a nice light lsiten and just need something to get you through to the next book. You may want to add it to your wish list as a filler.

Ok so for me the ending was a bit too rushed. The book itself was good I just didn't like all that leading up for a quick ending. Hopefully the next one in the series is more balanced in that aspect. Other than that I did enjoy the book. Lee Ann and Cody were definitely meant to be, despite the foolishness that Cody allowed himself to be a part of.

The ending...

Nice quick read! Purchased series for elderly disabled Mom. Mom enjoys all of authors books.

Cody and Leanne are couple that have faced the tough parts of life and managed to find each other again. The best part is the small town gossip. How small town life will easily weasel it's way into your personal life. Throughout everything I loved that Cody managed to find his family, himself, and embrace love with the woman in his life...Leanne. Very Sweet Story. 🙂😊☺
