Publisher's summary

Short on time? Or maybe you’ve already read the book, but need a refresh on the most important takeaways. In a quick, easy listen, you can take the main principles from Measure What Matters: How Google, Bono, and the Gates Foundation Rock the World with OKRs!

John Doerr spells out the recipe for efficiency in corporations by using objectives and key results. A seasoned pro, Doerr traces on his history with OKRs and uses several examples from case studies by people who have implemented his system of utilizing OKRs. What unrolls is this: a great story and mission aren’t the only keys to success; having a structured, transparent way of creating goals aligns a company and drives them to better performance. Doerr uses several case studies from tech companies, and even a musician, to present how OKRs changed their missions from being visions into reality.

Mistake I regretted almost immediately.

Utter waste of money or credit. The social justice opinion and commentary was out of place and contrived while the content was practically useless. My fault for not paying closer attention to the title, was looking at the cover! Ugh.

I still need to read the original

I had hoped to get more out of this, but in the end, I think it has cost me more time as I will need to read the original text.

This might be a great refresher text rather than a book too read in place of the original.

Great Highlight Summary of the Original Book

I found this very helpful in understanding how to successfully run a business with a modern mentality. The audible app gets 3 stars but the book gets 5.

High Points & Low Points - Mostly the Latter

Too high a level to really extrapolate the process for which the book is written. Read the book instead.

Nothing

Maybe summaries are useless because the lack of detail makes this summary a waste of time.

Not useful

It seems to describe what is on the page, rather than the actual content. It’s as much a summary as a a table of contents is. For some reason started talking about how the book made him feel?

Opinions with little context or take aways

its more of his opinion rather than a cliff note about the key data points.
