About this listen

Earth, 2038. Every single man, woman, and child on the planet has a unique gift: an extraordinary, superhuman ability.

All except one.

And he may be civilization’s only hope.

Ignatius Lohman longs to make his mark, to be someone. But in a world populated entirely by superpowered beings, he’s nothing but a powerless white-collar civilian. Iggy’s plight is not helped by the fact that his father, General Lancelot Lohman of the defense agency PEERLESS, is one of the most powerful men on the planet.

Then, suddenly and unexpectedly, Iggy finds himself in the crosshairs of Erle P. Van Owen, a megalomaniacal corporate overlord with the astonishing ability to neutralize any superpower.

Van Owen is seemingly invincible. But he didn’t count on this: If he can effortlessly defeat anyone with superhuman abilities, how will he fare against the one person with no powers at all?

Teaming up with his father and their PEERLESS allies, Iggy must find a way to save the United Nations of Earth. And maybe, with a bit of luck, find himself along the way.

Better character development than most super hero books. Incongruous that the main super hero who is like Superman suddenly starts losing fights when the plot needs for him to be weaker. Overall a fun read if you like the genera. I would read a sequel if one is written-- just don't expect a literary masterwork.

Mostly Good

Both the premise and the wonderful as usual narration by Fred Berman (Yes, I'm a fan). Was a little disappointed to understand this might not be a stand alone.

Loved every minute

Kudos to Gus Krieger for creating his own, unique superhero story. Yes, it has all the exciting elements that draws fans to superheroes in the first place, but Superworld digs deeper with a protagonist who is a normal human being struggling with feelings of inadequacy and desires to be special, important and "super" in the world around him. Krieger challenges us to ponder what it actually means to be a hero. Is it someone with a supernatural talent? Is it someone who volunteers for work in a soup kitchen? Is it someone who kills a despot who would have killed hundreds? Is it someone who simply takes the time to listen to a child? Most of all, if someone has a super talent or super ability, would he/she use it for good/altruistic purposes or evil/selfish purposes? Krieger has a super talent with words, and he definitely uses his unique ability for good purposes in Superworld. I look forward to reading more from him.

The narrators are fantastic as well, particularly Berman with his great commitment to the depth of the characters created by Krieger.

A More Layered Super Hero Sory

Those giving this book bad reviews... I've got to wonder about them.
What were they expecting?
This book is everything that was promised.
Krieger does a good job of telling the story and the narrators do a good job of bringing it to life.
It's your typical supers story with the main characters having their own issues that they are dealing with as well as the overall problem of having to save the world from the megalomaniac.

Bad reviews are bunk!

An intriguing premise very very well realized. Superworld will make a great movie, I’m sure. Krieger knows how to spin a yarn and he weaves this one expertly, imbuing his superhuman characters with real human soul.

The narrators do a great job bringing the already three dimensional characters to life.

Even fans outside the genre will find something to love with this one, if I could give more stars I would!

Fantastic

A wonderful story that imagines what the world would be like if everyone was Super. Great story with wonderfully written characters. Can't wait for a sequel!!!

Superworld is a truly unique and clever superhero story. I absolutely loved every minute of it! I really hope there's a sequel.

SUPER FUN

The narration was strong, but not enough to save an unoriginal story line with too many "coincidences". The author seemed obsessed with showing off his vocabulary, which did nothing but detract from the story

Mediocre knockoff
