About this listen

When people started to develop superpowers, the world changed forever.

Me? I wasn't one of the lucky ones with powers. So I had to develop more mundane skills, skills which have taken me across the globe on dangerous missions.

But there are some missions I’ve always had to refuse. I've never been able to take on a super. They're just too powerful. They're gods, whereas I'm just a man, even with all my knowledge and training.

All that changes after I discover my dad's secret research project. With this device, I can not only steal superpowers and take them for myself, but I can also choose to give them to other people.

I can make supers.

In a world ruled by egomaniacal supers, I'm about to upset the balance of power.

Like the story

The narrator reads robotically the story is good, just needs some emotion in the reading.

Better then most superhero stories.

So I've listened to this twice now as well as the other 3 that are out. Im enjoying the story. Its a kinda middle ground between the too hopeful dc/marvel and the straight evil supers of the boys. Yes superpowers would corrupt people and some would stay good. Throw in a company policy of "smile for the camera" and that's more real then most.

Decent story, good voice acting, but WAY too graphic.

Story is actually pretty good even if the protagonist is really cocky and irritating. I appreciated the extra voice actress that was utilized for the female characters as it can get kinda weird when a male narrator tries to voice the female characters with an attempted more feminine voice. World the story takes place in is fairly believable. I came across this book as a suggestion from other related titles I've read and didn't realize it was a "harem" series. For those unfamiliar, harems usually have the main character build up a team consisting of mainly the opposite gender. How the main character "makes supers" has him make coitus with them in embarrisingly detailed graphic scenes that go easy longer than they should. Usually the author sets up what characters are about to do with each other, but this book takes away any kind of imagination of those scenes and gives you the play by play.

If you like stories of corrupt superheroes being taken down similar to The Boys and don't mind the extra horny, then the series is worth checking out.

Listen to the sample before you buy...

I tried. Wayne Kelly makes it unlistenable. Stephen Hawking would have been a better reader.

Nice

Interesting story, still wondering how the story will continue but the story is good. The voice acting is spot on and both the voice actor and actress did a great job.

good story, one good, one bad narration

the only thing I have a problem with is the male narrator sounds like txt to voice from the 90's

Show some emotion.

The narrator for the main character is very bland shows no emotion I think it would be a much better story if there was a little more enthusiasm.

Solid story, if a little oversimplified

Like many such novels, things work out slightly too conveniently to expedite the narrative breaks between steamy section. It’s pretty visible here, but not overly problematic.

I just can’t stop losing immersion with Wayne’s voice being that steady. I’m sure he’s great in other things, but it doesn’t work for me here. It’s slightly too monotonous for him to be the main male voice.

Great story, not so great narration!

I enjoy this authors work and this book holds to this. The story is fleshed out and the main protagonist is very well written. The female heroine characters are very likable and I look forward to the rest of this series. I don’t know if I’ll continue with the audiobooks due to the robotic and drab narration. There were moments were it wasn’t as bad, but more times than not it was very distracting and took away from the story.
