About this listen

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Girl, Wash Your Face comes the story of an aspiring pastry chef whose dreams of culinary confection are put to the test by a romance that was never part of her plan...

Max Jennings is in a bad mood. The secrets from her past make it her natural state of being.

Max’s bad mood means that very few people actually truly understand her or know that her dream is to be a pastry chef. When a rare opportunity to work for world-famous Avis Phillips presents itself, Max jumps at the chance. Avis and her staff aren’t stingy with the tough love, so Max spends every spare minute practicing her craft.

As Max bakes brownies and custards, cookies and galettes, she builds an unlikely friendship with a man she once loathed, and finds herself falling into something she’s spent the last six years avoiding. Will she let her painful past stand in the way, or will she muster the strength to forgive herself and realize her full potential?

This book should never end!

I’m obsessed! I love the story line and how captivating it is. It both raw and funny and I wish it never sane to an end. I look forward to staring Smart Girl!

An adorable romance

The story continues with Max. She has a lot of baggage and is extremely angry but she wants to be a baker. Taylor is the guy who helps her find her strength.

Great read!

I love Rachel Hollis, I was lucky to hear of her recently. I am absolutely in love with her and what she stands for. After reading “Girl, Wash your face” I had to listen/read more of her work! The girls series is so good, I got sucked in so quickly! I’m on Smart Girl now. Definitely worth the read!!!

Surprisingly touching

I really identified with Max’s character. I liked Party Girl for the fun plot, but found this book truly touching and appreciated the notes of Rachel’s personal growth themes slipped in.

Favorite one!

Love this one so much! Maybe because I related to it more. Love that Rachel reads her own books too.

Better than the first

The titles of this book series do not do them justice, however the illustrations on the cover do. I couldn’t put this one down. These books are like realistic fairytales you read as a child with the slightest touch of intense adult content.
