Publisher's summary

Frustrated divorcée Amy Warren is striving to fix her life by helping her hometown buy the local mill, and then she can put her Plan for the Rest of Her Life in action by buying a rundown cottage and turning it into her heart’s desire.

Amy’s plan shatters when Jean-Jacques St. Etienne arrives with loads of cash, charisma, and expertise, with every intention of buying the mill for its designs and then abandoning the community. A European playboy, he has no interest in anything except staying occupied so he needn’t remember the tragedy haunting him.

As mild-mannered Amy and dashing Jacques play a cat-and-mouse game that madly leads to love and can only end in heartbreak, their affair affects the existence of an entire town.

Editorial reviews

Narrator Julia Farhat convincingly evokes plucky single mom Amy Warren, the heroine of award-winning romance novelist Patricia Rice's Sweet Home Carolina. Farhat gives Amy a loveable, earnest voice that can't help but betray every emotion, especially the one she starts feeling for dashing Jean-Jacques St. Etienne. This is a disaster because Amy is trying to fix her life by helping her hometown buy the local mill, and Jacques wants the mill for himself. Farhat lets Jacques' charm and insouciance come through in her performance, and the dialogue between Amy and Jacques sparkles with liveliness as the pair's game of hard-to-get goes from playful to passionate.

Another great romance worth the read!

Since I found Patricia Rice I have blown through every book I could find. They are all different, none are formulaic, and the love scenes remain fresh & fun & never hit you over the head with too many times or too much description. I hate to be a slave driver, but I want more!
