Dating App Cautionary Tale

Man those dating apps are crazy and are apparently crazy addictive based on this story. I have never been on a dating app so I was curious about how the other half lives and have to say I am all good for never having tried it now. Some crazy, off the wall stuff goes down in this book--some of it is cringe worthy. I did not feel that Danny was so much looking for the one as much as he was looking for the one for right now. I did really like the narration, I am a sucker for British accents. I liked that all of this was from a male point of view. I think I enjoyed more about learning about what guys really think in certain situations than the crazy situations he ended up on sometimes. It was good, not great--but it was educational.

A comedy of dating horrors.

Danny, a serial dater addicted to the potential of finding something better with each potential date finds himself engrossed in the multitude of online dating apps. He's also a severely nice guy who can't seem to talk himself out of bad ideas or taking almost any offer for sex leading to tragically funny situations.

The author and narrators did a great job bringing the story to life. The story takes place in London so the British slang and accents are strong. Being American, there were a few phrases lost on me or small side characters with thick accents I couldn't decipher what they said all together but nothing dramatic.

The whole of the storyline is quite comical and the only tears shed were in the last few minutes. So the publishers summary is a bit misleading as the story really focuses on Danny traversing online dating not so much meeting the right girl to bring home to mom. If you're looking for some good laughs, British accents, and likely feeling better about some horrible dates you've been on, I'd definitely recommend this book.

Honest review

I received a code for this book for an honest review, following the British accent and lingo at time we’re not easy, but interesting to hear the equivalent to our expressions... the story was cute, a what not to do in online dating... and the narrator did a good job, expressively. I liked the book, it was a nice break from my normal genera .

Learn something new every day

I’ve always wondered what serial dating was like and, now, I know. I really really am so glad I didn’t and won’t ever experience it. Even though the whole story is from a male POV, I was very interested in the story from the first second of it. Getting intwined in the dating world from the other side was intriguing. Getting to see what he was thinking and feeling about this parade of women he was seeing was just fun. I laughed about situations that he got him self in and thought “you brought that on yourself man” and a few seconds later he would think something similar. He knew he was being ridiculous when he was being ridiculous.
I think most of the time we see a girl in a book. And that girl experiences a sexual epiphany and we are on board with it. We see her and we want her to succeed but I think it’s rare that we see a man who is trying to find his way.
Now, if you are thinking “if that was a chick, you’d be saying she was a slut.” Um. No. Because I love Beth. And Harriet. Not so much the crazy ones in the story but that’s because, wait for it- They. Are. Crazy. But, Beth and Harriet are out there serial dating and I’m like “go girl, don’t settle! You paid for three months. Get your three months worth!” Also, Beth is a person that I feel like having coffee with would be interesting and I don’t drink coffee.
So-
The Sex- all over the place in weird places.
The Book Boyfriend- is actually a bunch of book girlfriends.
HEA- it’s actually there. Serious. Get it!

Extremely entertaining stuff

4.5 Blue Roses
3 Blue Flames

Narrators Mark Restuccia, Sooz Kempner and Patch Hyde delivered the remedy for a melancholic day. Their delivery was flawless and flowed naturally. It was easy to listen to and get comfortably sucked into the crazy world of online dating. Listening to this audiobook deleted all my somber moods, recharged my batteries and kick started my week with an unnatural optimism and a hop in my step.

If you are someone who has propelled yourself through a massive amount of bodies to reach the stable final destination with your significant other, then this will spark those dead neurons and bring some funny memories back to the forefront of your mind. Call it nostalgia, or sentimentality, the truth is we had fun, until it got old. Maybe we got old and just grew up.

So, Danny discovered the world of online dating and he gets in all kinds of trouble. Finding himself in some interesting pre- and post-coital situations. The author described his escapades extremely vividly, causing me to pop a few hernias and involuntarily laugh the ugliest laughs; giving a new meaning to LOL.

The character development was well rounded and the sequence of events led to a very “real” emotional ending. This created a emotional attachment to the characters, causing me to really appreciate what just happened.

I definitely recommend this audiobook. Especially, If you like your comedy with a little deeper meaning.

Happy Listening

A Great Escape!!!

This had me roflmao for most of the story. The best medicine ever for whatever ails you. Take a listen and enjoy like I did. The ending is a bit sad, but the rest is a wild ride with laugh after laugh. The dating misadventures are hilarious. The narrators were epic and brought their "A" game.
