Amber LaLanie burst upon the music scene a decade ago like a ball of fun energy. Her "live for the day" attitude has hid her insecurity and extreme loneliness in the sea of people around her. Then she met a production intern, Kylee, who has a way of drawing out the real Amber that lies within. This is set in the same world as Music of the Soul but is a standalone book.

Would you listen to Syncopated Rhythm again? Why?
I am 1000% sure that I'll be listening to this again a few dozen times. I love the story and having it as an audiobook allows me to enjoy it while"on the go".What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed how the characters were so well fleshed out. You end up wanting to meet and befriend them because you can relate to their issues on some level. They reminded me a lot of my own relationship and our personalities...so it's like reading an alternate universe version of us meeting. Also, there were a lot of characters in the book...but it never felt crowded. Everyone added to the story, and there were some hilarious lines. Schubach is great at juggling characters and writing memorable storiesWhat about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?
I really enjoyed her take on some of the lines. It was nice hearing the women being voiced by a woman. I hope to hear more from her soon!My Favorite Book in the Series

What made the experience of listening to Syncopated Rhythm the most enjoyable?
Driving around while delivering packages made it awesome? But seriously, the worldbuilding (first book of the Music of The Soul series for me). I enjoyed all the characters and the closeness and slow build of the romance between the leads!Who was your favorite character and why?
I really liked Kylee... reminded me of myself in a way, sweet but overly cautious of others... WHERE SHE WOULD GET IN HER WAY *facepalms*Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I LOVE Hollie Jackson, her voice always works so well with Erik's stories! She has a way of reading the characters where you can actually tell the differences between them all.If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Can You Hear Me Now?"Feel good romance for all~

I listen to the audiobook. It had a nice steady pace. I loved the characters, they both were nice but Amber’s insecurities seem so relatable that she became my favorite. It wasn’t as if Kylee was so self-assure. She had issues too, but there was some charm in Amber that got my attention.
The plot was fine. It was a very enjoyable story. I also liked some of the secondary characters and how sweetly the romance was manage. Amber and Kylee were so adorable together, they made such a nice couple.
The narration had some ups and downs for me. There were times when I wasn’t sure which of them were talking, which made things a little confusing. But I did liked the way the narrator’s voice sound so happy at times, it was really easy to connect emotions based on the way the book was narrated.
Lovely story. I loved the characters

Okay, I loved this book gave it the usual 5 stars. As always they all use the same words, phrases, and attitudes that all the characters in the series seem to share. Amber, who we know from Karaoke Queen, hides her vitiligo from the world and so it is meaningful when she reveals herself to Kylee almost immediately. Kylee has to battle the beauty bias that exists everywhere for women but particularly in anything remotely connected to the entertainment industry. As was related in thought by Amber the two of them share a sense of loneliness. Both of them were raised by single mothers in less than ideal circumstances, Amber in particular. Finally both of them of them love their art and find deep joy in in their vocation; a couple of lucky individuals who get paid for doing what they love.
My favorite exercise of picking at the scabs is limited in this story, there just aren't that many in the book, and most of those occur far enough in that they would certainly be spoilers. As always when it concerns the MOTS books; a strong recommendation. .
Sure Wish They Could Get These Books Out Quicker
