About this listen

Alisha is the newest Talon of the Raptor Clan, mercenaries prized by rulers, nobles, and the wealthy as elite bodyguards. Her skill with a blade and her foresight won her a prized place as a Talon, but unlike other Talons, she has a unique magical sigil given to her by an unnamed goddess.

Alisha's first assignment for the clan is guarding a spoiled young princess. Surrounded by dangerous plots, keeping the girl alive takes all of Alisha's guile. When an attempted coup turns the princess into a queen on the run, Alisha needs every skill she possesses to protect her young charge and to help her find the strength to grow up and reclaim her throne.

The book won an EPIC eBook Award.

pretty good

I got this out of curiosity. Honestly expected this to be a brass bustia' story. It's not. Our MC does fight, but she thinks about it. I enjoyed the story. I rated story only 3 stars because over sites: MC trips over a root, ankle gets hit w a sword. MC walks away w/o apparent problems. Our MC and her charge go running through a wooded country side barefoot. After several hrs it's stated charge's feet are bleeding. They put on shoes and walk off. There are more things like this. In this particular story I could overlook them because narration is excellent

It was good but...

It was a good book. solid. However, it's missing a lot of the little details and interactions that really pull you in. Plus, it feels like things just happen without preamble or details to say why.
