About this listen

A young girl dreams of seeing the stars and meeting aliens. Her chance comes in the form of a project offering a college education, a commission in the SAS Fleet, and a partnership with an alien. She successfully qualifies and wins one of the coveted 10 positions. Of Course everything comes with a price - the alien is a parasite that inhabits the body and mind, and is there for life. Is it a dream or nightmare come true? Maybe both?

I've found this book to be a really enjoyable story, I think that the main character is very endearing which will make the listener look forward to the next book. All in all well worth the credit.

Enjoyable

i love this book. the author knows how to create great characters and a dynamic storyline. The performer truly brought them all to life!

Fantastic Book and Great Story

The narration adds a lot of interpretation to the book - the narrator is perfect displaying Nadia and her attitude, plus Thalia too.

The book itself is great - it has a great idea, the plot is good, the small side stories add to Nadia's character.

The whole series is a bit sad, seeing what bigotry can do to a society, but inspiring in what the Riss can achieve with Nadia as Leader.

Overall it's a fun book, and I couldn't' stop listening.

Reading the book was great - listening was better

This book wasn’t for me. I stopped at the end of chapter 6 because I just could not get through any more hate/bigotry/assault. There was not a lot of lightness and a whole lot of dark. The narrator did a fine job, it was the story itself. Just not my cup of tea.

Tough one

Unlike too many books today this one doesn't rely on kinky sex for sales.

The Riss Gamble is an adventure in Alien Relations

It's an interesting world, but there's no nuance. Like it was written with a sledgehammer instead of a pen.

A good story. The writing is a little weak.

Yet another I highly recommend from C.R. Daems. All my sci-fi and fantasy faves wrapped into one! First contact/ alien partnership/ space battles and more. The vocals were spot on!

Fantastic! Highly Recommend!

I liked the main character but it was a little strange that in military outfit after outfit everybody's racist and wants people with tattoos dead. Over and over ad nauseum. Seems like there's not much discipline in the military in the future.

Good but contrived

I understand what the author was going for, however, i couldn't help but find the constant never ending bigotry to be so unenjoyable that even though i tried to push through i just couldn't finish this book. I made it to about the eight hour mark. Seems silly to stop when i only had an hour or so left but damn was it a relief to just stop. There are some interesting parts, Thalia is fun and the concept is definitely interesting, but the author was far to interested in the inherent racism aspect. The writing and dialogue are pretty clearly amateur level and the plot actually doesn't really make any sense if you think about it for very long. I will not continue with this book.

The bigotry thing gets old and tedious.

Got excited because I liked the authors other red titles. Got the book, started listening and was interesting. Got to chapter 4 didn’t like from the start and got worse. It’s very bigoted and couldn’t finish the chapter because I could see where this was going. Went back and read other reviews and they said they got almost through the book but finally couldn’t take anymore.

Tried to return it
