A hero's journey teeming with monsters and mystery is thrust upon an ordinary girl, who must struggle to stay alive, feed her family, and save the world.
It wasn't the day the Gates appeared that changed Jynn's life; she'd only ever known an Earth where hordes of interdimensional monsters terrorized humanity. No, Jynn's life changed forever when she graduated from high school and tested positive as a Hunter: a breed of enhanced humans evolved to challenge the monsters who are ushering in Earth's apocalypse. The only problem is . . . she has the very lowest stats possible.
Struggling to compete with the more powerful and skilled Hunters and barely able to support her family with the scant kills she does manage to log, Jynn knows she's fighting a losing battle. When she's suddenly kidnapped while on a Hunting trip, a mysterious System offers to make Jynn stronger if she agrees to become a pawn in its quest for revenge. Without regard for the consequences, she jumps at the opportunity.
Now, fused body and soul to a System dictating her every move, Jynn endeavors to balance her new mission with her responsibilities as a Hunter. And as she levels up, defeating monsters and developing new skills, she'll soon discover the weakest Hunter in history might be the only thing standing between Earth and its total destruction.

Was entertaining just kinda slow. I didn’t mind a bit of the mc’s dramatic soliloquies; indeed it would draw out the characters passions if not for it being over done stuck on repeat. Still I feel the authors got the talent but don’t feel I’ve seen the IT so far. Though reminds me of my feelings with the author Ivan Kal. Where I’d never have guessed he’d write one of my top litRPG to listen too based of one series opposed to the other.
Anyways. The system and power progression is very simple but decent. There’s allot to the story and world progression but feel it missing something.
Ps. As for power progression I really like to actually see the characters literally feel the effects of getting stronger swifter. Etc. Sure it would be nice to have it confirmed when checking your stats. But to many books lately have characters go oh look my strength gained 6 points sweet now I’m strong. Even if they go on to prove said strength by picking up a builder or whatever I just can’t stand when they don’t actually go through littéral change the moment they plug in the stats. This books gets a medium to low rating in showing the characters actual body spirit/magic progression. Not many stats to choose from. And doesn’t even say what she’s choosing her free points on. By Ya eventually says the total. But cmon. Okay that’s all. Hope it helps you decide
Enjoyable

Jhinn has grown up in a world where everyone is either a normal human, or a hunter/healer/mage, and you find out when you turn 17 which category you fit. Those who test as hunter/healer/mage leave from testing to go immediately to Eden, the hunter town outside the city walls. Do not pass go, do not say good-bye to family, do not take any belongings with you.
The worldbuilding is unique -- light, but still neat. Interesting monsters (example: evil rainbow caterpillars, and yes, you will shudder). A terrifying villain premise.
What made me want to quit listening:
Jhinn has unrelenting bad luck for the first half of the book, zero friends or interest in making friends, cannot communicate or stand up for herself and collects enemies like she's in a competition.
What made me keep listening:
She gets a clue and gets tougher and finally connects with a few people so she isn't as isolated. Meets a hot OP guy. No romance, just an interesting character.
What bothered me most:
I (a female) have listened to dozens of litRPG series with OP male MCs. Didn't realize how much it would bother me to listen to such an underpowered female MC flounder through chapter after chapter, chained in by limiting beliefs like, "if the system says I'm only an 8, that's all I can ever be." So glad the author took us through her journey toward a strong protagonist.
Strong female MC, after she finished woe-is-meing
