Story
In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

Critic reviews
"What a page turner! Compelling, chilling and an incredibly impressive debut." (Alexandra Brown)
"It's certainly one of the best debuts I have read in a while, it's compelling and shocking, and very cleverly crafted." (The Book Review Café)
"Hall packs a punch with this one and the ending left me gasping." (For the Love of Books)
"It is disturbing and chilling. It feels very real. And a quick mention for that twist! I did not see that coming at all. I usually spot these things and I didn't! Clever! Very clever!" (Northern Crime Reviews)
"Between You and Me is that kind of book. The one that makes you feel like you're there, you're experiencing the emotions, the hurt, the pain." (Bibliophile Book Club)
"Lisa Hall has wrote a harrowing, disturbing and chilling novel which I couldn't help but devour in a matter of days. She's one of those authors you don't see coming and bang best seller, up there with the greatest crime writers like Stuart McBride and Lee Child. She's one to watch." (Brunette Lifestyle)
"It is well written, emotional and jaw dropping. More please!!" [Jo Robertson, (NetGalley)]

I was entertained but NOT impressed at all.
Hm. I’m a fan of Lisa Hall and I’ve had this book in my wish list for a while but the low ratings deterred me from getting it. But I decided to just go for it and I ended up liking the pacing and and the twists. However, the other reviews are accurate that emphasize how utterly clueless the main character, Steph, is. She really is excruciatingly oblivious to all the obvious stuff happening around her so it makes the events easier to unravel— but very unrealistically. This book has the framework for a great psychological thriller with a lot of twists and turns but the execution is so oddly unbelievable. The ending was extremely unfortunate and wholly unsatisfying. On a positive note, I was still able to remain engrossed in the drama and suspense from start to end, as far fetched as it was. I was entertained but most definitely not impressed, so it wasn’t a total loss and I don’t regret getting it.

Predictable
I find it very peculiar that with such a twist in her first book, "Between you and me," that this one should be so predictable from the very beginning. Also, the book ended very "unfinished" for me. There were lots of obvious things that could have been done to put this to rest very easily without the hours it took to listen to it. A protagonist that blind is just not believable at all—especially with all she'd been through previously. I hate to say that I was very disappointed with this one, as I was really looking forward to it. I should have taken heed to the many reviews that said it was predictable.

Kept me listening
What did you like best about Tell Me No Lies? What did you like least?
The story flowed well and had a lot of background info that weaved into the dynamics helping it all to make sense.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I wanted the main character to get a backbone and wake-up! The root of the problem was obvious throughout but she just wouldn't see it. Even though I couldn't quit listening, I had a hard time believing someone could be this stupid and fragile.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I liked the narrator's female voices but the male voices were just plain awful.
Any additional comments?
I hated the ending. I hated that her doctor and husband refused to listen to her, and never understood the reason for Olivia's presence in the story or why Tessa was not re-introduced at the end. The fact that no one would check into her accusations is not believable at all.

I was shocked at how the book ended abruptly. It bothered me so much that I only gave this book 2 stars. The narrator did a wonderful job but her performance couldn't make up for how this book ended.....

Disappointment
I got over the voices of the males, they were annoying at first. I was able to get into the book, had it figured out fairly early on. Was extremely disappointed with the ending. Very abrupt. I even looked into a 2nd book that picked up where this one left off. There isn’t one.
