About this listen

You just can’t count on outlaws these days....

I’m Willa Scarlet, and my mother taught me never to depend on a man. She was right. Case in point: my secret mission to keep a trunk full of priceless treasure safe from Prince John. When the outlaws of Sherwood Forest fail to help, all my carefully laid plans are thrown askew. And it’s all the fault of one burly, infuriating bandit who has a bee in his bonnet when it comes to me. Men!

I’m John Little, bear shifter, and I can assure you, there’s nothing little about me. Quite the opposite. I’ve also got a big dose of stubborn—and an issue with humans. I’m perfectly content with my reclusive life in the forest until Willa Scarlet saunters along. Now, I want the bite-sized redhead with an oversized attitude as far away as possible—the farther, the better.

The only things Willa and I have in common are sizzling chemistry, ruthless enemies, and responsibility for a treasure more valuable than either of us suspected. Before we know it, we’re on the run, deep in trouble, and in love, even if neither of us is ready to admit it. But we can’t hide away forever, and soon I'll be forced to make hard choices. Do I follow my heart or my head? And where does my allegiance lie—with Willa or with the shifters of Sherwood Forest?

Willa and John

This series gives a wonderful, intriguing twist to the tale of Robin Hood we are used to hearing, this second book takes place in December 1193 in Nottingham, England, and tells the story of John Little, a bear shifter who doesn't trust humans. He's about to meet his fated mate, whether he wants to or not! John is Robynne's Second in Command, years ago he found himself trapped in his bear form in a bear trap and was freed by a human girl with bright red hair. Whilst Robynne is away from Sherwood John and the band of merry men hold up a coach intending to take all the valuables on board but as soon as John sees one of the passengers he recognises her as the girl from the forest who freed him all those years ago. So in an attempt to repay her good deed and much to the chagrin of his fellow bandits he insists on letting the woman's coach pass through Sherwood without taking any of the treasure it held.

The red-headed human inside the coach is Willa Scarlett, a feisty, strong-minded woman who has been brought up by an equally strong-minded mother to never depend on a man. She had been tasked by her mistress to take a considerable amount of treasure through Sherwood so that it would find its way into the hands of Robynne's band to help pay King Richard's ransom and keep it out of the hands of his evil brother Prince John. But when the. outlaws fail to take any of the priceless treasures intended for them Willa sets out for Sherwood taking a few items of treasure with her intending to make contact with Robynne and complete her mission.

Unfortunately, the first person she encounters is John Little who challenges her to a fight before he will allow her to cross the river! What follows is an amusing, exciting and entertaining story peopled by engaging mostly loveable characters. Anna Lowe's writing style is so descriptive and some of the scenes between our fated mates had me laughing out loud whilst others had me reaching for a cool drink! Their chemistry is palpable and the love they come to share is genuine and deep. I found myself amused by Willa’s reaction to discovering John’s bear side. I loved Willa and John they were perfect for each other.

I'm looking forward to the next instalment telling Tuck's story and when Robynne and Daniel will finally get to be together forever.

The narration is wonderfully performed by Kelsey Osborne, who has narrated all of the books I have listened to by Anna Lowe and Chris Merlin, the pair make a beautiful partnership and I look forward to hearing more books done in this way

Willa and John’s story is definitely a new take on Robin Hood. Got to say I love strong characters and both of these are very well matched. I received this book as an ARC. This is my honest review, I loved it. Hard to put down.

Willa and John's story

in this second story we are getting Willa and John's (Little) story. Willa is sent to actually be robbed by the bandits instead of prince john getting his hands on the treasure chest. Instead she finds her fated mate.

🐻👩‍🦰FEEL GOOD ROMANTIC ADVENTURE🐻👩‍🦰

FEEL GOOD ROMANTIC ACTION ADVENTURE with Robynne Hood and the enthusiastic band of merry men, although there was this one guy not very enthusiastic and that is when things get very interesting. Anna Lowe manages to pack her stories full of the characters back story, action packed present and promise of a magical mate filled future. Good and evil always fight for balance but here those with good hearts come out on top in a feel good ending with the promise of another characters story to come. Wonderfully narrated male deep rumbly voices by Chris Merlin and perky, independent female voices by Kelsey Osborne, always a pleasure to listen too.
RECOMMENDED PARANORMAL ROMANTIC ADVENTURE.

Willa and John

Willa and her group met the only honest thieves in the forest who would not rob them, thanks to John Little. When the coach was stopped, there was recognition between Willa, a human and John, a bear shifter. He initially intended to rob the coach but in an attempt to repay a good deed Willa did in his past, he wants to let the coach go. Even Robert Hood was surprised. It was so funny when Robert was intimidated by a woman. I loved it! Willa is not happy about this because she is on a mission for her mistress' treasure not to reach Nottingham and end up in the hands of the horrible Prince John. Unfortunately, they do reach it with the treasure and Willa was a bad@ss like Robynne Hood. She was able to escape using a personal female issue. She was able to take some of the jewels, hide them, and get back to the forest. Like book 1, this book also had humor, suspense, and romance and I found the characters very likeable. Both Robynne and Willa were such strong women. Kelsey Osborne and Chris Merlin did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.

Very enjoyable in audible

AUDIBLE
Very enjoyable in audible with both narrators doing a great job. Though I found the male narrators female voices a bit weak.
Still found Willa’s attitude rude, demeaning and stubborn. Even though she admits to her faults, it is annoying.
I was kindly gifted this audible book by the author.
BOOK REVIEW
Though I understand the struggles of women in those times of being just chattel, Willa is just a bit too women’s liber in her attitude and thinking. To be truthful, she is quite rude, opinionated and demeaning at times.
Though she does apologise quite nicely to John, she then goes back to being stubborn, with disastrous results.
Thankfully she learns her lesson.
The second half is much more enjoyable story wise for me as we get to some seriously good situations.
This is my honest review of this book.

Super great! Good listen!

Narrators do a good job! Quality performance and recording. An entertaining listen!

Fun series!! This continues the story from the first book, but focuses on Little John and new character, Willa Scarlet. Love that this is Robin Hood reimagined! Willa has been tasked with getting a treasure stolen by the great thieves Robin Hood and the Merrymen, but things don’t quite go as planned. Willa needs to take matters into her own hands, but that puts her on the wanted list of Nottingham. Willa needs some help from Robin and company, but gets off on the wrong foot with John. A bit of forced proximity helps these two stubborn people see things differently. Always enjoy the shifter aspect too! Looking forward to the next book!

Love the dual narration

Willa Scarlet only wants one thing - robbers to act like robbers. She does everything she can to convince Robin Hood and his men to take the chest of goodies in the coach they stopped in Sherwood Forest. But for some reason, one of the would-be robbers is just as determined to NOT take the offered bootie. Now what is she supposed to do? Her Mistress tasked her with ensuring that these outlaws ended up with these items, the keeping them out of the hands of Prince John. Obviously, she is going to have to talk some sense into these bumbling forest dwellers.

John Little is a bear shifter and one of Robynne's so-called Merry Men. He gets a blast from the past when they stop a carriage and he recognizes one of the women inside. She doesn't know him since the only time she ever saw him he was in bear form, but she had saved him when he was caught in a trap. He couldn't pay her back by robbing her. He had to send her on her way - no matter what his bear had to say about it.

These two are going to fight their way into each other's arms. You can't dodge destiny, after all. Loved getting to know John and Willa. We also get more of Robert, Robynne, Tuck, and the other shifters. Can't wait to read Tuck's story in the next book and see how Robynne and Daniel finally get to have their HEA. Anna promised.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
