Publisher's summary
Based on The 12-Week MBA by Abilitie, a business leadership program taught to professionals at global Fortune 500 companies, The 12-Week MBA offers practical tips for managers and aspiring business leaders.
Getting an MBA takes time and money, making it inaccessible to many people who want to take charge in the business world. Now The 12-Week MBA offers an alternative way to learn business essentials, focusing on the skills and knowledge required to succeed as a manager and business leader.
The 12-Week MBA’s unique premise is that there is a core set of business skills that entrepreneurs and future leaders of organizations can learn and will need regardless of their industry, function, or level. Those core skills—value creation, people skills, and decision-making—can be learned in less time and at lower cost than in a traditional two-year MBA, where the typical content becomes obsolete by the time students have graduated.
Authors Bjorn Billhardt and Nathan Kracklauer, leaders of Abilitie, a leadership development provider, have customized and honed their virtual 12-week MBA course over the last 20 years. Now they bring you the key lessons from this curriculum in an accessible, engaging guide.

Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

Easy and educational listen - well organized, thoughtful, and entertaining
I appreciated the break-up into two parts, helping listeners either take it all in or focus their energies on the numbers/objective side and the softer/more subjective side. The organization of chapters is also going to make it much easier to reference back to in the future.
Another clear organizational win: the key takeaways at the end. I appreciated this quick recap which on occasion prompted me to re-listen to parts of a chapter.
The 12-Week MBA was not your typical e-book listen. Management books can be quite boring, but this one was not! The quips were well timed so as to re-engage listeners. They were also not overdone which could have risked a move into wincing at the forced effort. It was an easy and educational listen. I highly recommend!
