Publisher's summary

A Richard & Judy Book Club Pick

Immerse yourself in The 6:20 Man, a heart-racing thriller with an incredible ending, set in the world of high finance in New York. From David Baldacci, the number one bestselling author of Memory Man.

It's time to catch a killer . . .

Having survived combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and been decorated with medals, Travis Devine leaves the army in mysterious circumstances, under a cloud of suspicion. And at thirty-two years old, he’s swapping fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda for a different kind of danger in the cut-throat world of high finance.

His daily commute on the 6:20 a.m. train into New York’s financial district, to his new job as an analyst at the powerhouse investment bank Cowl and Comely, takes him into a world where greed, power, jealousy and ambition result in the financial abuse of the masses and the enrichment of an elite few.

When a close friend of Devine’s is found dead, the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death at Cowl and Comely compel him to investigate further. As he digs deeper, he discovers strange coincidences and unnerving truths.

As the deaths pile up, and the major players show their hands, Travis must question who he can trust – and who he must fight . . .

The action continues in The Edge, the second Travis Devine thriller from David Baldacci.

Another hit from Baldacci.

Great book with nice new characters. A little predictable in some parts, but overall a nice read. Baldacci truely is the best in his class.

Well worth the read

Overall the book was highly entertaining and well worth the read. Yes, in some places the plot might have overly relied upon unlikely outcomes or a dearth of logical consistency, but that was not fatal for its overall quality. A positive mention also goes to the societal message in the story, which is truly thought provoking. And yes, the book might have come from a factory and not the author’s hand. But that’s just the world we live in. True disappointment can be found in some thoughtless reviews, such as those from Mwenda and Dawn: Anyone can write a scathing review, but providing no examples or plausible reasoning while relying solely on infantile superlatives, extremist verdicts written in all caps, and painfully repetitive, emotional statements alone, you only serve to discredit yourself. At the very least one could expect the use of proper grammar while claiming the qualitative high ground. Such reviews make me wonder whether they might not come from the troll factories of competitors.

The storyline is ok. it felt a bit long winded at times, but worth pursuing.

Expected Much Better from Baldacci

I have liked most of previous works of Baldacci and I had purchased this title with similar expectations but I was disappointed. A weak plot and a very average way of putting the scenes, characters and the story together.

HORRIBLE! THE WORST BALDACCI BOOK EVER!

I am an avid reader of books by David Baldacci from the moment I discovered his first book "Absolute Power" way back in 1999 during a trip in Washington DC. I have read almost all his books and I find them very interesting, well-written and well-researched until I made the mistake to buy "THE 6.20 MAN"!
The book is disjointed with sketchy and unrealistic characters with a horrible storyline? ONE IS LEFT WONDERING IF INDEED IT WAS BALDACCIWHO WROTE THE BOOK OR SOMEONE ELSE WROTE THE BOOK FOR HIM. I struggled to finish the book but was unable.
