About this listen

When high school dropout Ashur Yonan receives an unexpected invitation to join a shadowy organization known as the Academy, he is plunged into an ancient conspiracy that threatens the entire world.

Ashur Yonan is going nowhere fast: an eighteen-year-old college dropout living with a mom who doesn’t understand him, mourning the death of his father five years earlier and working a dead-end food service job. The only good thing he has going for him is his girlfriend Kiki, but she’s leaving soon for college on the East Coast. It’s getting harder for Ashur to believe he still has the potential to make something great out of his life.

But after meeting with a mysterious stranger at his father’s gravesite, strange things begin to happen. A representative from a shadowy organization known as the Academy comes to Ashur with an offer to join their latest recruiting class.

Wary, but out of options, Ashur accepts—and enters a world of incredible new technology, cutthroat competition, and secrets that slowly begin to reveal themselves as he navigates his place at the Academy.

As Ashur pushes to learn more about the Academy, he also begins to uncover secrets about his own past, including a family history that traces back to the fall of the Shah during the Iranian Revolution, and a host of strange circumstances surrounding his father’s death. Will he be able to learn the truth in time to save himself … and the world?©2024 Patrick Bet-David (P)2024 Recorded Books

Stellar Storytelling

Now I know why the PBD team is so amped about their new space and making it into the Palm Beach Movie Mecca. This is just the beginning of Asher as protagonist in a long line of fiction that rivals any fiction of today in hopes of a movie one day. The amount of detail is insurmountable to any story and gives inspiration to us all to go and get our dreams. I found this listen extremely relatable as I am the son of a foreign immigrant. Again thanks so much for representing all of us!

Possibilities are endless!

This needs to be made into a movie or show! Great character development and plot twist!

An interesting read.

I enjoyed the characters and plot. I assume it is set for future books. Will read them when they come out.

It felt real, like I was Ashour.

I loved how it made me feel like I was in the story itself. It felt like I was a child immersed in it, all over again.
Definitely needs a sequel, or even a tv show series.. Long Live Assyria !

I loved the characters

I have followed the author for years and am so delighted with this book, it was captivating from the prologue to the end. I love that the characters had their strengths and waeknesses and that they were not written off by their friends despite their failures. I can't wait to hear the sequel.

Intriguing

I have been listening to Patrick Bet David’s podcast for a few years now, so the storyline was not surprising. The twist and the turns were. The pieces of the real history past and hidden from truth were appreciated. It was captivating and I listened to the whole book in 3 days. If you want to learn about history that is unspoken off, in an intriguing way, this is the book.

Patrick Bet David,
A many of several outstanding talents.
It was a gripping well thought out, well written and captivating story. First audio book I was excited about that got finished right away. Can’t wait for his next book. I’ll be giving it as a gift for many young people I know.

Wow.... Wow!..... WOW!!!!

I've been an admirerer of PBD since I discovered his podcast a few months ago. I was always impressed by his demeanor and articulate thoughtfulness.

When I saw the first advertisement about his book, I was drawn to it out of intuitive curiosity. I'm glad I followed it. The character developement and storyline of the novel makes if for one you either can't put down or can't stop listening to. In fact, I think I'm going to read it again because the story is so rich. As a huge fan of history and who had studied a lot of the figures brought to life in his book, I found the vault technology enthralling.

In addition, it gave me insight into the Pursian and Asyian culture and haritage. Although I don't share that lineage myself, the lessons and perspectives imparted in this masterpeace are more than mere invaluable. They're things that anyone looking to better themselves and their lives can take to heart - and know that the challenges are worth it.

Thenk you for such a literary journey. It's something of a calliber that I would love to write. Job most well done!

As for the narration, I was captivated by the way he borught out the characters and emotions. Through his voice, you coul feel everything they felt, and that is an artform, to say the least. I look forward to more with rabid anticipation. Thank you!
