About this listen

A mission to free a world from the Kleese has gone terribly wrong. Lieutenant Ryan Nelson and his Marines are trapped with no hope of rescue.

On the Kleese home world, a division grows between the regular Kleese and the militaristic Zaltule.

The war against the Kleese intensifies as the human-led Alliance attempts a daring attack against the heart of the Kleese Empire. If the mission succeeds, it will be a great victory for the Alliance. If it fails, it will mean the end of freedom for all the races of the galaxy and the end of human life.

I hate when series change narrators

The book was great but I hate when books change narrators. This narrators did fine with character voices but the rest of the time he was just too cheery. I almost got used to it by the 10th chapter, but it still bugs me. If you've read the first three books and you're invested in the series; go ahead and read this book.

New narrator

This one had a new narrator, although not bad, the change of voice and pronunciation slightly distracted me from the story.

Why did they change narrators?

It's a good series but why do they change narrators on series all the time. They wait until they are 4 or 5 books into a series and change the narrator. They did this in The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey too but got so much negative feed back they switched back. It's not a good idea to do that on any series after the first 2 books because by that time us listeners are use to voices being done in a certain way.

still to fast

had to reduce the speed to 90%, like the other books in this series it appears that some how it was produced at a higher than normal speed. I hate it when they change the narrator hahalfway through a series.

The misogyny just got too much for me.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Less sexism, also if the Author stopped endlessly repeating himself that would be good too. A good general plot ruined by poor dialogue and unnecessary over explanations of thing that would be obvious to all but the authors most dim witted readers.

What could Raymond L. Weil have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Have a more enlightened attitude towards women. These are meant to be elite Earth space marines yet he writes the women as flighty, insecure, delicate flowers in need of a mans protection with nothing on their brains but men and babies.

What aspect of Liam Owen’s performance would you have changed?

The sound of his voice.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance. Grating

Better but still repeats over and over

What disappointed you about The Alliance?

Same words and phases repeated way too many times.

What about Liam Owen’s performance did you like?

Better than the one before but still could improve

What character would you cut from The Alliance?

The vermin from every bad character mentioned at least 500 times in each book
