Right Up My Alley

As a big fan of Terry Pratchett, my wife introduced me to the Artemis Fowl series. It doesn't disappoint--just the right blend of humor, fantasy, even sci-fi (faerie tech). All my favorite genres for fiction. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Also, Nathaniel Parker does a bang up job with the reading--great with accents and voices. I'd bet he can give Jim Dale a run for his money.

My favorite Artemis Fowl

Will Artemis find his father? Will his heart remember how to do more than beat? Will his gucci loafers survive? The answer this and many more questions can be had with the 2nd (and best in my opinion) in the Atemis Fowl series. This exciting story of warmth, love and family is wrapped in package of faires, snow, radiation and a spoiled genius. The descriptions and details of the fairy world are great - and Artemis - as always - is sassy as ever.

A Bang-Up Sequel to Artemis Fowl

This is a fantastic follow up to the first book in the series! Taking place primarily in the Lower Elements (with a side trip to Russia), this book was action packed and a very enjoyable listen/read. It picks up one year after “Artemis Fowl,” and begins with Artemis’ quest to find his father. Still convinced that his father is alive, Artemis is doing his best to find him and funneling large amounts of cash into every lead that might hint at his father’s whereabouts. When an e-mail message appears with a grainy photograph of his father, Artemis leaps into action.

At the same time, down in the Lower Elements, the goblins are becoming more organized in their criminal activities, and Commander Root and Captain Holly Short are convinced that they’re not doing it alone. When they discover that the goblins are trading with the Mud People, they instantly point the finger at Artemis Fowl.

What ensues is an adventure that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat all the way to the very end!
