Publisher's summary

Widow Gail Saunders is struggling to support her eight-year-old son, Nicky, by running a small riding school when the Earl of Savile arrives to tell her that Nicky has unexpectedly inherited money from Savile’s cousin. Gail and Nicky spend the summer at Savile Castle, where Gail falls in love with the charming Raoul, a man as far above her in social station as the sun is to the earth. To add to her troubles, someone seems to be trying to kill Nicky. The threads of the story unwind to an unexpected yet satisfying conclusion (which I am not about to reveal here!).

Yeah!

I fell in love with Joan Wolf’s writing decades ago. I love audio books. I am thrilled to have the two together. Hopefully, her trilogies of pre-history France and Medieval Britain will be available soon. They truly are among my top favorite novels of all time - especially Edge of Light and Daughter of the Red Dear. Thank you Ms. Wolf for so many hours of wonderful reading (and now listening.)

One of My Favorites

I adore Joan Wolf. Her Regencies are wonderful. I don’t think she has written anything that I don’t like

An outstanding example of a great story and perfect narrator.

I have been a fan of Joan Wolf for decades. Reading her romance novels is a pleasure for their excellent characters, solid plots and engaging first person narrative perspective. This is one of my favorites and I have read it dozens of times. I was extremely pleased when I listened to Karen Cass do the audible narration. Not only does she create unique and believable voices for all the different characters, both male and female, but her intonation and pacing are perfect as well to communicate the full impact of the text. I only wish the she was hired to read all of Joan Wolf’s novels. The enjoyment would be huge.

True love knows no class

I have always liked Joan Wolf's books. And of course to being an older woman. I do enjoy a book with lots of story and not chapter after chapter of drawn out explicit sex scenes that add nothing to the plot of the story. Please don't misunderstand as I am no prude and a little is ok. But crying out loud stick to the material. The books I have read by this author fit's what I feel is good taste! This Earl has really great character and takes responsibility for family and tenants alike. A little mystery is always great and this book had a little. Also this book is good if you like historical romances and know the customs of that time. If not don't get it because you sure won't hurt my feelings.
