About this listen

The talents of legendary marksman Gregor "Arrow" MacGregor are crucial now, as King Robert the Bruce moves to reclaim his Scottish holdings. Gregor's fame as an archer is rivaled only by his reputation with the lasses as a heartbreaker. But when he is exposed during a covert mission, Gregor is forced to lay low. He returns home only to find a new battle waiting: a daring game of seduction involving his now very grown-up and very desirable ward, Cate of Lochmaben. A born fighter, Cate was clinging to life when Gregor rescued her after a vicious English raid on her village left her mother dead. But five years later, the once scrappy orphan Gregor took under his protection has become a woman. The heat in his eyes tells her that she has his attention - and his desire. But will Gregor allow his heart to surrender before danger finds them and the truth of Cate's identity is revealed?Contains mature themes.

WOW I JUST LOVED IT!!

Where does The Arrow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story ranks very high, BUT Narrator, Antony Ferguson is Awful. He really cannot sound like a female or Childs voice He is horrible in that area.

What other book might you compare The Arrow to and why?

I am not sure. I have to think about that.

Would you be willing to try another one of Antony Ferguson’s performances?

No Not really!! I keep buying his books with the hopes he will improve on the female voices but so far he hasn't!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did both I laughed and I cried!!

Any additional comments?

The Arrow is my favorite story so far. It is perfect in every department, characters, romance, funny, adventurous, secrets and a tad of angst, not to much. I love the ending epilog. I felt like I was there in each and every scene with "Arrow" Gregor MacGregory the Highland Guard Marksmen and Archer and Cate Lochmaben or is that really her name, Cate has big secrets as to her identity. Gregor finds her trapped and staving in a well after her village was attacked by the English. Cate was only 15 at the time. Six years later at age 21 Cate goes after her man. Gregor is know to be the handsomest man in Scotland and his wee ward wants him for her own. The story is very funny at times and very sad at times. This is one sexy hot story and I love that Monica McCarty concentrated on the romance side of this story and not the war between Scotland and England. I loved that the couple was actually stationary at the castle and not moving around while fighting the war England. This is My favorite in the Highland Guard series so far!!!

Good, But ...

To me this book is not as good as the previous ones. There is action in the beginning, but very short and no real mystery to this story. Gregor was too weak when Cate approached him about the children. His character is not as strong as the other Guards. So, this story is good, but I hope the next one is better.

another good addition to the series

I read many reviews on Goodreads who hated Cate but I thought she was a great match for the "most handsome man in Scotland ". I could have done without the episode in the ale house, but it worked out all right in the end. Off to the next book in the series. This is a solid 4 stars and a must read if invested in the series.

The brave hearts....

Loved the spirited little lass with the mighty capacity for love that captured the handsomest man in Scotland. The great warrior succumbed to her loving arms, because she had faith in him as the man he wanted to be....for her! He might have been a rogue....but he was her rogue.......forever.

How the Most Beautiful Man in Scotland Found Love

Would you listen to The Arrow again? Why?

I only keep a small amount of books on my phone bc it has only so much memory. This is one of the books I keep.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Arrow?

How do I narrow it to just one?

What about Antony Ferguson’s performance did you like?

He reads the story so well. And his accent, which I've remarked upon before, is excellent

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

absolutely! Which is hard for me during the week

Best Highland Romance I have read in awhile!

Fantastic journey into romance and Robert Bruce's Scotland. Great twists and an agonizing/vindicating journey to the HEA. Great read if you have been bored with historical romances and need a really good one!

Incredible job Monica!

Any additional comments?

My daughter and I have listened to the series and love them. They are written very well. As the narrator reads the story you are transported to a time we will never see. You wonder, how much of what is written could have really happened? It's an amazing group of books. At the end of each book she gives you a history of how she got her characters as well as a short history lesson of the period - it's amazing and again - Very well done.

I love this entire series

I love the historical elements of these books as well as the overall storyline, but the women can be so irritating. From the snide antagonist and her cronies, to the heroine herself. Unfortunately this is a theme throughout the entire series. If you are looking for men to fall in love with, this is the right book. If you are looking for women to relate to, look elsewhere. Kate’s love for the children is all she has going for her.
