About this listen

Six months ago, I was naïve, stupid, and whiny. I believed in second chances. Even when I was boyfriend-less, apartment-less, and my best friend was on me about moving on.

Five months ago, one insignificant moment changed everything. I met Logan. I agreed to undergo his ridiculous boot camp to get Cole back.

Last month, a blip in time knocked my world on its axis. It threw me into free fall without the courtesy of a warning or a safety net.

Yesterday, I ruined everything. One action that broke two hearts.

I used to believe in second chances.

My name is Devina Marshal; this is the story of how everything went to shit.

Contains mature themes.

Loved it

I loved this book, and I’m not even sure why. It was just different and engaging. This was my first by this author and this narrator, and I enjoyed both the writing and the narration. It had so many elements that would normally make me throw my hands in the air and give up. Davina made you down right want to smack her at times. Yet, she didn’t feel contrived. And, the way her friend and Logan called her out on her bs made it more realistic instead of her doing things that were, okay stupid, and the reader was just supposed to pretend it wasn’t. Her issues felt real and like issues instead of contrived story antics. You could actually empathize with her and want to smack her. Which, made me not want to put it down to see how it would all pan out. And, the delivery was definitely important in a book like this. And, Sara Puckett’s portrayal of each character was spot on. Davina seemed very torn, conflicted, and honestly clueless at times. And, the justified frustration from Logan and her friend felt so real and realistic. It wasn’t over done or under done in writing or narration. This was a really fun one I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on.

Wow! Amazing!

This was my first Ellie Messe's book and won't be the last! I love this beautifully written slow burn story! The storyline is fun, and captivating. Devina and Logan are great characters. Logan is perfect! Devina is a beautiful character. I love Amy, Devina's best friend, and I would love to have her story. Sarah Puckett did an outstanding and amazing narration. I love her male voice! All characters were easy to distinguish. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I totally recommend it!

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧Enjoyable & Entertaining!

I loved this book it is fun, well written and well told. The story captivated me from start to end. Ellie Messe is a new author to me and I am now a fan, she has a wonderful way with words. She creates interesting storylines, characters and the dialogue between those characters is amazing. The lead character, Devina, is heartbroken after catching her boyfriend, Cole, with another woman. She leaves him and moves in with best friend Amy, with hopes that Cole will come begging for her forgiveness and to come back home. Amy is full of personality, she likes to party and drags Devina out with her every chance. One night she takes her to a speed dating event where she meets Logan and despite the chemistry between them she does not want to give him the time of day. So Logan comes up with a plan, he will help her win back Cole and if it does not work she has to go out on a date with him. I adored Logan, his patience, his serious humor and his dedication to get what he wants. Loved the banter between them, how he never got Cole’s name right and how Devina corrects him everytime, hysterical. The most impressive thing is how he saw Devina, her relationship with Cole and how he went about building back up. Well done Ellie Messe, very well done! This is such a great story, I highly recommend it to all!

I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett is a talented and versatile voice performer. She performs the voices for all the characters, she brings them to life giving each their own distinct sound and personality. Her ability to switch characters in back and forth dialogue is amazing, she does it flawlessly and keeps the story in a perfect flow. Sarah Puckett has become one of my favorite narrators, I love that she puts so much into the story and how her performance enhances it elevating it to another level. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Could not be better!

Ellie Messe! Where have you been? This is the first book I have had the pleasure of experiencing and it is a wonderful listen! Devina is reeling off of her cheating boyfriend of 5 years. She is heartbroken and even willing to forgive and take him back. She goes to speed dating with her best friend and meets Logan. Logan is a wealthy businessman and is taken with Devina. He can see her for who she is, and when they meet again, he devises a plan to win her heart. First, let me say that the characters in this book are so well written that they feel familiar. Devina is a struggling woman, but with good guidance is finding herself. Logan though at times harsh with his comments is nothing short of wonderful. Logan helps edge Devina back to the living and win back Cole's love, but is this what Devina truly wants? Laced with humor, warmth, good intentions and a incredibly slow burn, this book flowed smoothly into my heart. You will smile a lot, even laugh out loud, yell with frustration and love with your whole heart.

Sarah Puckett always has a way with her narrations that suck you in and make you want to stay. This book has some intense feelings as well as humorous lines. Puckett delivers with touching emotion as Devina finds herself with the help of Logan. Her comedic timing creates laugh out loud moments. It's a listen that leaves you wanting more of them.

Adorable, sweet and just a bit naughty ;-)

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was funny, romantic and a bit naughty. The story had a nice slow burn with lots of flirty chemistry between the couple.

I adored Sarah Puckett's performance! As usual she brings life to these characters. Her ability to give each character their own unique personality and voice never ceases to amaze me.

3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok so I was torn on how to rate The Art Of Dating, part of me wanted to give this a 3.5 Stars, because I found the book funny as hack and it truly keep me entertained. Seriously I laughed so hard I was crying, but on the other hand I never really connected with Devina and Logan. There were just to many things that needed explaining…for instance why did Logan even care to begin with on helping Devina? it wasn’t like Logan and her knew each other for long or had this off the chart chemistry when they first met, making Logan use any excuse to be around her. It was like Ellie Messe just threw things in her book for a filler, but never gave us any reason why…

Also it was very annoying on how naïve Devina was at 27.
Here you have this grown women acting more like a teenager, but was a prude like a 80 year old. 🙄
Her behavior just didn’t fit her age. Then you have Logan, which was funny as hell, but acted to desperate for being a millionaire. Again it just didn’t feel right..
Every thing felt forced in my opinion, even there chemistry between them… which was kinda non-existing.

This book had so much potential, and easily could have been rated higher if it wasn’t so rushed and lacking important details.

Audiobook review: As always Sarah Puckett did a fantastic job narrating. I love her voice. She truly brings the characters to life!
