About this listen

Everything you've heard about modeling is true, and you haven't heard the half of it.

It's glamorous.

It's sexy.

And yes, the line between work and reality often blurs.

We're not just prototypes of perfection. Models have feelings and desires, too. We may be genetically gifted, but we're still human.

I'm only human. Yes, an extraordinary specimen that earns more in a day than most make in a year, but this eight pack didn't create itself. I spend hours working on this body. The good looks just come natural. *Winks* Thanks, Mom and Dad.

I'm Danny Weston, supermodel.

But one path was traded for another when I chose this career. Ten years later, I would trade my career to have it back. To have her back.

Reese Carmichael is the one woman I would give it all up for, and the only one I can't have. Yet.

A Sweet Second Chance Romance

When I first started this audiobook, the first thing that grabbed me is that it is Dual Narrated. It took a little bit of getting used to but it felt like listening to a movie. Eric Rolon did so many different voices with different accents. This book is a second chance romance. Danny and Reese dated in College when Danny became a model. With his career taking off, Reese found it more and more difficult to be separated and deal with all of the things he had to do in photo shoots. Years later, they work together after no contact for 10 years. Danny is a top notch guy. He is loyal and intense... and everything you want a perfect book boyfriend to be. Reese is woman who had to work hard to move her way up in the advertising industry. But perhaps the dark horse of this story is Vittori. He had me laughing all the way through.

Good story but poor narration

The story was good but could have been better with more clear flashbacks. I wasn’t particularly happy with the narration because many words were mispronounced. Also, the narrators would be reading about the present and then the past without letting the listener know of the time change, in most cases. Occasionally they would say, “Ten years ago.” Mostly they would be well into the time change before the listener could figure out they changed from present to past. I’m not sure whether that was the story or the narrator problem.

I didn't see Danny Weston coming!

I didn’t see Danny Weston coming. I've read the book, but I knew I just had to listen to the audio. There is something so real so down-to-earth, so perfect about Danny Weston and I just couldn't resist hearing his story, living his story, again.

Danny has it all. He’s gorgeous, charming, rich, a top model. Some may even say he is a supermodel, but don’t let Danny hear you say that.
Reese has been working toward her goals. She has been pushing herself to be a better someone. She wants to feel something she hasn’t felt in 10 years—not since her relationship with Danny Weston ended.

Reunited after 10 long years, the two instantly realize that what they had isn’t over. There was no closure, no parting goodbye, nothing.
“For the record, I remember everything about you.” I’m tired. My eyes close on their own as the dream world starts sweeping me away, but I manage to say, “You forgot me, Danny. You forgot me.”

Danny and Reese dance. They dance together, they dance apart, but ultimately they are one. Two halves of one soul. Two halves of one love. Danny is in full pursuit of Reese. He doesn’t want this second chance to pass him by. He knows what he’s been missing for 10 years and he’s prepared to win her back.
“Who said anything about falling? I’m not here to make you fall.”
“Then why are you here?”
“To help you remember.”

Did you just swoon? I did. This entire book made me swoon. Danny does not mess around. When he wants something, he goes for it. The only problem here—because there has to be a problem—is that it is a breach of his contract. Does he care? Will they be able to overcome their past? Will they get around the issues surrounding their jobs?
“You’re mine and I’ll always be yours. I love you, Reese. I’m in love with you.”

Aside from Danny and Reese, we are introduced to some amazing secondary characters. Namely, Luke and Vinnie. Oh. Em. Gee. These two guys are hilarious. Here’s a little of the interactions we get with these two:

(Luke and Danny)
***When he returns he sets the pizza on the table in front of us, then hands me a salad. I smile. “Aw bro, you do love me.”
“I love you buying rounds of drinks. For you to keep doing that, I need you to keep working. Enjoy your lettuce, princess.”
***The game comes back on and the volume is loud again, the conversation over. We’re guys. We’re great like that. The TV goes silent again. “Would you take Reese back?” So I’m wrong. We’re two women sitting around talking about our exes I guess.
***”What are you waiting for then?”
“A sign.”
I thump him on the head. “Will that work?”

(Vinnie and Danny)
“There was so much sexual tension in that lobby I almost put on a condom so I didn’t’ get knocked up.”
“That’s not exactly how condoms work.”
He flips onto his stomach and props his chin on his hands. “Pfft. You know what I mean, Model Danny.”

This book has it all! Danny, Reese, Luke, and Vinnie are perfect. Even Claudia and Becs are great extras in this story.
There is no me without him and by how he’s looking at me, there’s no him without me.

A Sweet Story

My normal audio purchase is after I read a book, fall in love with the characters and stories, and move it to my list of books that I will read again. The books that I like to read again, I also look for audio books. Sweet Talk by S.L. Scott I was fortunate to receive a copy of the audio for review. The audiobook is my introductions to Danny Weston and Reese Carmichael.

Sweet Talk is a second chance romance. Danny and Reese met in college with a plan. They were on the road to marriage when Danny’s modeling career took off. Reese was a young, insecure woman and conflicted when she saw the pictures of Danny with the hot supermodels. She walked away because the hurt was too much. Danny wasn’t a cheater, but he wasn’t honest about his schedule and in town less and less putting a strain on their relationship.

Fast forward ten years. Reese is responsible for promoting a designer’s men’s line. It is her big break to a promotion she wants badly. Reese knows that Danny is the perfect face for Vinnie’s clothes. What she doesn’t know is how working closely with the man who still holds her heart will impact the job.

What I like about the story and the audio:
I love second chances. I know this sounds like a broken record, but I can’t help it. A second chance romance rarely lets me down. The story is well-rounded and gives me a little of everything I like. The characters are more mature (for the most part) the second time around. They laugh, cry, build a little angst, and have some fun and sexy roll-in-the-hay times.

The narrators do a good job bringing Danny and Reese to life. This is the first audio where the male narrator Eric Rolan and the female narrator Kylie Stewart switched back and forth throughout the book. Eric read all the male parts, and Kylie reads all the female roles regardless of the point of view. I liked that. This narration methodology kept me thinking about the characters, and I stayed in their heads throughout the story.

The life of a model and the business surrounding them is nicely fleshed out and relayed to the reader. Ms. Scott writes the secondary characters (another draw for me) beautifully. Love Vinnie. He is one of the best over-the-top characters with a heart that I’ve met lately. Luke, Danny’s friend, Becs, and Mark add substance to the story. Keaton is the “bad guy.” It only takes one appearance to hate him enough to be the character I love to hate.

What doesn’t sit right:
My major negative about the story itself is that I don’t remember Danny and Reese discussing what made things go wrong in the first place. The reader knows from flashbacks and internal dialogs, but Danny and Reese never discuss why she wasn’t there when Danny came home.

Secondly, this couple didn’t learn to communicate after all these years. Lack of communication broke them apart in the first place; now ten years later Reese decides she wants to handle her problem alone. The sad thing is it blindsides Danny and catches him off-guard. I hated that they didn’t talk about Reese’s business problem.

The audio. This is nitpicking but Kylie said envelop (as in the letter wrapping) instead of envelop (to wrap in someone’s arms). It brought me out of the moment a couple of times while my mind adjusted to the actual meaning. It is the same thing with compromise. In the audio it is pronounced as co promise. The first time I had to rewind because it didn’t make sense.

Anyway, Ms. Scott is a great writer. Sweet Talk works well as a standalone even though there are other books in the series. I’m interested in learning about the other characters. I hope they are audiobooks too. Sweet Talk is a fun story that works nicely as an audiobook. The narrators do a good job bringing the story to life. I will listen again when I need a sweet, easy read while I drive. Ms. Scott has me hooked.

Sexy hot second chance romance

Narrators did a wonderful job bringing Danny and Reese to life! Danny is a model and doing his thing daily until a blast from the past walks in Reese. The minute they see each other the connection is off the charts. But can they both move on from the past towards a happy future? With roadblocks ahead will it all crash? Great second chance romance that had me swooning through out. A must listen to! ! 5/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

Soul Mates!

Danny is the sexy, successful charismatic model who can have any woman he wants however the one that he really wants, his college sweetheart Reese, left him 10 years ago and he hasn’t seen her since.

Reese has worked hard to ensure the success of her marketing career and although she knows that letting Danny near her again could be devastating to her heart he is the best man for the job.

When Reese and Danny went their separate ways, it wasn’t because they didn’t love each other and from the moment they see each other again their connection and chemistry is stronger than ever. Things are complicated by the past that still needs to be resolved as well as fraternizing is a violation of the contract. Their journey to recapture what they once had is tested which forces them to make a choice about what is really important. Danny is determined to get his soulmate back and Reese has regretted her decision to end things every day since but can they overcome the obstacles that stand in their way?

This story was told in duaI narration and I did enjoy the back and forth. The voice of Vinny, one of the secondary characters, seemed so real and brought a few chuckles.

True Love Never Dies

Loved this one! Danny is such an amazing guy! For being a super model he is humble and perfectly delicious! Reese is a super sweet girl who never got over her first love, letting him go to pursue his career and live his dream... but is he really living his dream? The flow of the story was perfect, you got to know all the characters and fall for each one in a different way. I absolutely love Kylie and Eric's style of narration! I wish more were like this.

Cute. Angsty. Swoon worthy.

Cute. Angsty. Swoon worthy.

I swear I’m not normally the mushy type. This book was everything needed in a second chance romance. Kylie Stewart and Eric Rolon made me swoon over this book couple. It was utter perfection. Not only was this story steamy but the characters had depth. That alone had me feeling like I was there with them both. Absolutely cute in a romance aspect. I can see this even happening in real life, which is sad to think but to know there is a way to comeback from it all fixes my heart.
