About this listen
Half of all meetings are a waste of time. Here’s how to make sure your meetings aren’t!
According to a Clarizen/Harris Poll survey, the average American worker spends four and a half hours every week in general status meetings.
And that’s not counting other meetings you can get called for at various times of the day.
But just 11 percent of survey respondents said all of their meetings were productive. And with 67 percent of workers saying meetings are keeping them from doing their job, why do companies still keep having them?
The thing is, meetings are essential in any organization.
Collaboration, discussion, and interaction are the lifeblood of a company’s progress and innovation.
Unfortunately, meetings can hamper these collaborations when they’re poorly planned, badly run, and haphazardly organized.
With the guidance and advice of meeting management expert J.W. Dionne, you’ll find out exactly what you have to do.
In The Art of Meeting Management, you will discover:
- How to have engaging, productive, and worthwhile meetings with the six Ps of effective meetings.
- Five meetings that could have been an email–these situations don’t actually require a meeting.
- How to make meetings more inclusive, and get even the quietest and most introverted attendees to speak up.
- Useful skills you need to develop that will help you facilitate meetings so they run smoothly.
- The powerful psychological tool to apply in your meetings that will improve follow-through and promote compliance.
- Why it’s better to have two short meetings than a long one.
- Why you should encourage conflict during your meetings–and how to prevent it from getting out of hand.
- Fun ideas for virtual meeting openers that will get your attendees engaged and ready to go.
- And much more!
Meetings will never become obsolete.
They may take different forms and use different platforms, but the need to get together and collaborate will always be there.

If you’re interested in making money with stocks, you’re not alone. A recent Gallup poll showed that nearly 6 in 10 American adults have money in the stock market. But unless you’ve previously worked as an investment banker, you might have better odds of making money at the casino than with stocks. In fact, researchers from the University of California found that 90 percent of retail investors and day traders lose money. Which is why most people think winning in the stock market is simply a game of chance.

Very helpful
After reading this book, I can boldly say that I now have meaningful meetings.
I ensure that I apply psychological tools in my meetings that have improved follow-through and promoted compliance, tried not to hold unnecessary meetings that will affect working times, and also encouraged conflicts during meetings as long as we arrive at a resolution.
Every manager should get a copy of this book.

My life is meetings!!
It is amazing to me how many people do not understand how to run or participate in successful meetings. I have been in leadership for over 12 years and it is amazing how little meeting etiquette and meeting performance has changed. I have noticed a significant shift when my company started to work from home. It's like more meetings just get thrown on the calendar because we're at home and people think we're just available. It's time to take back our time and start to shape how meetings are ran and that includes us as participants. The author does a great job of giving actionable steps to start to shift how meetings are organized, is it worth being a meeting and what is my role as a participant or an organizer. Overall, everyone's time is worth something so it's time to treat it as such. Protect your gold which is your time and be efficient. Great job to this author!

I wish all managers read this book
I’ve been on both sides of good and bad meetings and I had never thought about the fact that being held captive by a manager was such a lack of respect for my time.
This audio book should be handed to everyone promoted to manager. The author lays out some great examples of how to keep your meeting interesting and how to handle over sharers and the quiet ones. I liked that the author suggests having detailed meeting plans and letting people opt out of meetings.

Great Help for my Future
This audiobook is insightful and has been thought about carefully in all facets of meeting management. It amazes me how the author goes into detail about how to successfully run meetings or take part in them. Preparing for the meeting in person or by video, and directing it so that it is productive. The author does an excellent job of providing specific steps to start shifting how meetings are organized, whether or not it is worthwhile to be a part of a meeting, and what your role is as either a participant or an organizer.
Overall, the information contained in this audiobook can be put to use in various contexts. This will come in handy for me in the future. In addition, the narration was also of a high quality, and all in all, listening to it was a very pleasant and entertaining experience. Highly recommended, without a doubt!

Greatly improved my ability to run meetings
The author, J.W. Dionne, really knows what he's talking about, and it shows in the practical and insightful advice he gives throughout the audiobook.
What I appreciated most about this audiobook was how it tackled the common problems that arise during meetings and provided actionable solutions. For example, the author suggests having two shorter meetings instead of one long one, which I've already implemented with great success. Additionally, the section on virtual meetings was a game-changer for me. I've struggled with keeping attendees engaged during online meetings, but the fun ideas for virtual meeting openers and the advice on using visual aids really helped me step up my game.
I also liked how the audiobook included checklists and templates that readers can use to plan and organize their meetings. This made the process of implementing the advice in the book much more manageable.
The narrator was easy to listen to and did a fantastic job at performing the narration for this book.
Overall, "The Art of Meeting Management" is a well-researched and informative guide that provides concrete techniques and tools for managing meetings effectively. It's a great resource for anyone who wants to make their meetings more engaging, productive, and worthwhile. I highly recommend it to any business professional looking to improve their meeting management skills.
